Those two clubs/teams in particular are pretty well funded here at stony brook. Crew has practices everyday from 6am, so it is pretty demanding. They also go to a very nice lake near by for rowing practice starting march and the coaches seems to know the sport well. Rugby also has a very good following. They hold practice in the field and compete against other schools. Archery, fencing, crew, etc are all decent clubs (although not as advanced/equiped as those of flagship state schools like ohio, penn state…). The lesser known clubs tend to be lacking, though. Marial arts clubs, for example, hold practices in a tiny squash court that was converted into a “mat room.” It is basically a small square room with mats and a heavy bag, that is it.

I wish such clubs had more resources, especially since there is a huge demand for them.
