Cluster headaches

I agree with Simpllifried, it sounds like you have cluster headaches and should see a specialist. The reduction of pain by reducing blood flow the brain is indicative of CH. (I use that technique if I don’t have my pills with me or before they take effect.)

Before the use of Triptans (such as Imitrex) to treat CH, the primary abortive medicine was ergotamine - a vasoconstrictor. My doctor said the pain sensation in the orbit of the eye is caused by the pooling/accumulation of blood for some unknown reason.

Good luck.

Only occasionally do my headaches actually make me feel nauseous. I figure those ones are different since I also feel a lot more light sensitive. I’ve found with the type where I’m not really light sensitive one of the best things I can do is take my glasses off and press on my eyes.

No real tearing or nasal drip that I can recall. Though I do know sometimes my eye gets watery (I think it’s more from me applying pressure than anything else.).
