Coca Cola Question

jym626, would you ask your family member to tell the “top honchos” at Coke headquarters to…… “BRING BACK COKE 2, PLEASE” thanks! :D

I’ll see what I can do, but don’t hold your breath. Whenever we like some flavor, you can rest assured it is the kiss of death for that flavor. It will end up in the back of the warehouse and then gone forever. However, here’s a little morsel of info. Some of the minute maid flavors that are no longer under the Minute Maid soda label (fruit flavors) are now Fanta flavors.

Did you have the blood orange coke in europe? I was surprised at how good it was with a name like that!

Never saw anything called “blood orange Coke”, but we had other blood orange flavored soft drinks - don’t think they were Coke brand, and no cola in them. Mezzomix, or the Pepsi version - Spetzi, are both colas with orange juice, but I don’t think it specifies which kind of oranges to use.

But we also like plain blood oranges. Hard to find here. Not always easy to find in Germany, either - more common in Spain and Italy.

Another drink popular in Germany is Apfelschorle – Apple juice mixed with sparkling water. I think Coke makes a version. Can’t buy it here, but easy enough to make at home.

I think the official name of the blood orange coke is Europe is “Coca Cola light Sango”. It was in Belgium. Good stuff.

I asked about C2. Unfortunately it was discontinued this year. But I wish I had known you wanted it-- I had a case in the closet but gave it away!! :(

jym626 - Thanks for checking…….I guess I’ll have to move on. I do like Diet Coke w/ lime.

Doubt this is really of any interest, but Coke’s new venture is Glaceau vitaminwater. And to the 2 or 3 of you who ever purchased Coke Blak (the coke/coffee drink), it is being discontinued in the US. So, stock up while you can.

I saw 12-packs of Fanta Apple Soda on sale while on vacation in Atlanta last week. Was mightily tempted to buy some but a look at the label revealed a horrifyingly high amount of carbs, i.e. sugar [corn sweetner] per 12oz can.

Seems unfair that the best tasting stuff is full of fat grams or carbs…

To answer the OPs original question:

Yes, you need Kosher for Passover Coke which is availible in some markets here all year round, but it’s availible during passover almost anywhere.

Mexican Coke is sometimes made with real sugar, but you have to check. It’s very cheap here if you know where to buy it. Something like 1.00 for a 1L glass bottle. Costco might carry this nationwide, but I’m not sure.

In Texas (even in areas far away from dublin), it is quite easy to find Dr. Pepper made with real sugar in glass bottles or plastic 20oz bottles.

In the UK all non-diet Coke is made with sugar, but that doesn’t seem like a viable option for you. You’re out of luck with Canadian Coke since they seem to use HCFS or something quite similar.

Look into non-Coke alternatives like micro-brewed rootbeer, etc. They tend to use sugar instead of HFCS. It’s more expensive, but the stuff that the local brewery produces is so much better than Coke ever could be.

Interesting that Costco can distribute Mexican Coke in the US. The US bottlers have regional territories, and they don’t take kindly to other bottlers arranging to distribute in their territory.

There’s a new soft drink made here in the Seattle area that is getting distributed on the west coast and Texas so far, called Dry Soda http://www.drysoda.com/</a> . Cane sugar, and not much of it, so only 70 calories or less per bottle. The flavors are lavender, rhubarb, kumquat, and lemongrass. Very tasty and “grown-up” – but a bit expensive. Nice to serve friends who don’t drink alcohol.

If you want to reduce the sugar in Coke, try mixing it 50-50 with club soda. I know it sounds weird, but I actually prefer it that way.
