College Class 2018

@NewBeginnings3‌ - I heard that this summer is gonna be intense in terms of heat. I’m a little worried. I dislike extreme heat more than extreme cold; in cold, you can just keep layering until you’re warm, but in extreme heat, even walking around buck nude isn’t enough if its that bad.

@preamble, I heard the opposite. Because the Great Lakes have almost been completely frozen, the weather will not be too hot. It’ll be interesting to see what happens.

@Vctory:
What the ■■■■ are you talking about you math-challenged ■■■■■■?

First of all, accurate BIGLAW placement is Biglaw + FC (you exclude the latter). Adding them together for GULC for the class of 2013 equals 46.1%. The next lowest in the T14 is Berkeley with 55% and the lowest after that is Mich with 57%. All three of these schools required have huge numbers of their classes going into nonprofit/government work, so you really do have to account for self-selection for all of them. Nonetheless, they are pretty much all sending about HALF their class to biglaw.

First, you completely fabricated your story of firms having ceased to come to GULC; this never ■■■■■■■ happened (unless you’re talking about the class of 2011, which isn’t really what we’re talking about now is it; their EIW was 2009, NOT 2014). We just did EIW here and EVERY firm was represented and hired EASILY 55-60% of the class. Take a look at the EIW page; multiple cases of bottom 1/3 grades getting biglaw (http://www.top-law-schools.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=230278).

Vctory goes to ■■■■■■■ GW.

ALSO LOL at Vctory claiming that UVA is “great” for DC biglaw. No T14 outside of HYS is getting you DC Biglaw from median. GULC does perfectly fine in NYC Biglaw from median to bottom 40%.

Yeah, Vctory most definitely attends GW.

@temerius8165‌ - What the hell? Who was even talking about law school in the last 20+ pages? No one in this thread is in law school (if that’s what you meant by saying that Vctory goes to GW); everyone here is a first year in undergraduate. Plus, if you wanna prove a point that can supposedly be evidenced through statistical data, you can refrain from hurling insults at users and rely just on your data.

I hope it’s not that hot during the summer… I also would rather it be cold than hot, although I guess I cannot speak extremes in terms of cold…

I’ll also have a job this summer, so that’ll be interesting, especially since it’s related to my intended major. But as for other plans, none yet…

It is only ever extremes in New England. It is either very much winter or very much summer except for like a week in May and September.

Did someone make an account literally for the sole purpose of insulting @Vctory? Hahaha. Wow. I know I’m supposed to be on my best internet behavior here, but that’s just really dumb. I think the last time law school was mentioned on here was last year, so I have no idea how that poster even came across that conversation.

It’s been really warm here and the cherry blossoms are blooming across the quad! There are a bunch of tourists and little kids running around, but it’s nice to see everyone out enjoying the nice weather.

The weather here has been awesome, but I’ve been too busy studying for midterms to fully enjoy it!

Over the summer I’ll be taking Differential Equations and Speech. I’ll probably work part-time at some random to-be-determined job. I don’t have any definite vacation plans, but I may be going to Clemson SC in June for Concrete Canoe Nationals, and Nashville TN in July for Tae Kwon Do World Championships (if I qualify at the upcoming nationals). My friends from FL will be visiting me up here in KS which is exciting too! It’ll be a busy summer for sure.

LOL, those posts about @Vctory‌ literally came out of nowhere. Why you so mad, bruh?

@temerius8165 no u http://www.top-law-schools.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=235459

Didn’t expect that though :smiley: I remember making a comment on TLS about GULC a couple of months ago, but nothing since then.

@preamble1776 Ah, we were talking about poli sci? I think I meant Econ. It’s possible I didn’t.

I’ve been awake for 24 hours in 15 mins. I also take my second midterm of the day in 45. I should really straighten out my sleeping schedule.

The weather here in the northwest is great. Everything is blooming, and it’s been consistently spring-like for the last week… And this is in an area that normally has winter weather through April (eastern Washington).

@Vctory‌ congrats, you’ve got your very own hater!

I don’t know how y’all can function without sleeping; I’m delirious if I skip my afternoon nap, never mind forgoing an entire night of sleep. I realize that I am essentially an 80 year old woman but my God. Sleep is like one of the most important parts of my life, LOL.

The snow gods are punishing us for deflate gate. These gigantic snow mounds probably won’t melt 'til June.

Darn right they are. I hope you Bostonians have been enjoying the impeccable weather lately >:D<

I get really irritable if I don’t get enough sleep, too. I love sleep!

I have to get at least 6 hours or I can’t function… And even then I can only make it a few hours without a nap.

I usually get 6-7 hours, but this was my hell week! Now that midterms are over I can switch back to a somewhat sane sleeping schedule

Do you guys “reasonably” procrastinate? I find that I always tell myself that I’m gonna be super productive and get XYZ done at some given time but then I end up convincing myself that it can be done later without consequence (and I’m usually right) but then I’m never productive.

I guess this makes more sense for minor assignments but basically my only homework due tomorrow is a short journal entry. It will literally take me 10 minutes. If that. I’ve been telling myself I’ll do it now (“now” as in the past 4 hours) but I can’t compel myself to do it because I know deep down I can do it with ease tomorrow 10 minutes before class. This happens to me all the time. But its the opposite with bigger assignments; like for big exams, I’ll start studying a week or more in advance and I’ll be on top of everything. It’s just the little things.

It’s maddening because it seems counterintuitive; you would think procrastinating happens and perpetuates itself because a major looming assignment overwhelms you (and then you keep putting it off, and it just snowballs) – but if something can be done now and there are no other obligations at play, it should just get done. But it doesn’t. I’m broken.

@preamble1776‌ YES. YES. YES.

I do this way too much. I had to download StayFocused (this extension) to keep me in check. If I know I have something to do that I really need to do, I turn it on and it shuts off my browser for a while, so I actually have to do my work. (Until I start looking at my phone…)

In other news, I’m finding econ way more enjoyable than I thought. I attended a seminar on this UChicago prof’s working paper today and was amazed at how much math I’m going to need. Now that I can see a purpose for learning a bunch of math, it kind of became a lot more fun to practice/learn.
