I SURVIVED MY SPEECH CLASS! I gave my final speech today and thought it went well. We have to go to class next week, but we’re really not doing anything except getting our evaluation sheets returned. I think I may get an A in the course. Actually, I think I may get straight A’s, but I don’t want to set my hopes too high, so maybe I’ll get three A’s and two A-'s, lol.
I have one project and one final separating me from summer break. I can’t believe it because it’s been really cold this past week (30’s). Where has the year gone?
@PengsPhils: yeah, that’s what current students are saying…
Wow, look at all you people and having A-/B+ grades! I wish… Like CS, I’ll be lucky if I get a B+, and a miracle would have to happen to get an A- (it’s extremely unlikely as it stands). I’ll most likely get a B+ in Linguistics (REALLY wanted an A- but recently I’ve been a bit careless in this class, sigh. Maybe if I pull of a 100% on the final but I have 2 finals that day). Then Math. OMG. Where do I even start. I’ll be lucky if I pass that class. Except for math, though, I think I like the challenge even if it’s not going to win me awards in the GPA category. But like, I don’t know how I’ll have time besides the combo of school + work.
It’s been “cold” this past week for me too. I don’t personally think it’s cold, but I guess for almost-May in California, it’s cold. 50 degrees in the morning. Seriously, SMH. Well, 3 more weeks till summer break…
I might take a graduate course next semester. I was nominated for a program at my school that basically entails working in academic advising (a job usually reserved for graduate students) and I have to take a corresponding graduate course to prepare me for the job.
Something really vague like “seminar for instruction” or something; it’s an elective for my school’s Master of Arts in English program. The coordinator is supposed to send me more information this week but my understanding of it is that it is supposed to teach me how to teach others (lol) English composition and literary analysis. Then at the same time, I’ll be working as a paid instructor for undergrads in the English department. I think the class is required for grad students who are pursuing secondary school teaching certification in Mass.
I think I’d have to drop one of my current classes to make it work. (Likely a general ed.) The class is offered once a week at night (there goes my perfect all morning classes schedule. )
I did really well on my speech exam - 103%. I would have to lose 35 points on my last speech to drop from an A to an A-, so I should be okay because I don’t think I did that bad on the speech! I am so excited!
I remember how disappointing it was to go from a senior to a freshman, LOL. During the graduation ceremony, I was thinking, “Wow, all of this and I’m going to be a freshman again.” Haha.
I still can’t get over the fact that I am done with school on Thursday. The four-month break is going to be nice.
I got a summer internship at a law firm. The attorney who was interviewing me kept stressing that it was unpaid - like yes, I get it. I’m signing onto free labor.
I have a couple more interviews for other internships (some paid, some unpaid) but I like knowing that I have a back up in place.
Nice! I applied to a bunch of things, and I have an interview tomorrow (yikes! I’m pretty interested in this one, though, so there’s that). How many days should I wait before I think they’re not going to look at my resume and stuff?
Give it a while. I waited about 3 weeks before I got an interview for one internship I applied for, and I was one of the first ones they interviewed.
I had the interview a week ago. I’m not sure how long I should wait before giving up hope that I’ll get an offer, though… I thought the interview went well but I feel like it’s been a long time at this point.
I think the bigger the institution is, the longer the wait. I have an interview on Friday with the Mass Governor’s office and I must’ve applied for that back in like, February or something, and I didn’t hear back until last week for an interview. Other positions, I heard back ~2 days.
When do you guys finish? I just turned in my final paper a couple hours ago and am now officially done with this year! I moved out of the dorm saturday morning already. I also found out yesterday that I got a 94 on my math final (he graded them really quickly!), so I officially have an A in the course (and I was the only freshman in the course).
My finals are next week. And of course my hardest one (science of materials) is Monday morning at 7:30 AM… So very little time to study for it. And there is a legitimate chance I’ll get a C in the class.
My calc final shouldn’t be too bad, so long as I review some of the stuff I forgot. History final is a take home essay so I’m not too worried. Civil class is a project that shouldn’t be too bad, but I’ve lost all motivation for that class so it might be difficult…
I have my second and third final today. My first one was a joke, done in twenty minutes-my anatomy one is in about an hour, and that’s going to be a little rougher
