first semester over guys. How you guys doing?

it went okay.

i had my first psychiatric consultation :D

(that went okay too)

Anyone on the deans list?

Pretty much deans list, but

Awaiting 2 pitiful “solid A minuses” to finalize as A minuses, unless I get around 96 on both finals or better… Those two are both GE classes that were affected by the following:

Too lazy to do busywork EC such as hunting for a themed Halloween costume (1% of grade) or writing a 500 word essay on an hour long video, also for 1%.

Turning in the wrong speech outline 2.5%

Writing essays / doing projects last minute / get it over early

Not caring to even read darn boring textbooks loaded with pointless fact memorization.

Ahh, why I hate GE’s. So that’s why I’m not going to touch the rest of them until the summer before I graduate.

That’s great enfield that you got a good friend this semester. I’m looking about for a good friend. Not truly “looking” as in hunting, but this semester I found a lot more people I don’t want to be friends with rather than those that I do.

Next semester may or may not be better. I’m amping up the course load and joining a highly involved EC.

I concur with Niquii, I’m still looking for that “good friend” but not really desperate for one. Although everyone seem friendly enough to me.

My next semester, I must adapt or die. (not literally but you get the idea)

In other news: I love beyonce’s new album. Already my favorite. Last favorite was B-day. Didn’t enjoy Sasha Fierce or whatever the freak “4” was too much (beyonce is running out of album names lol). I’m sadly disappointed with lady gaga. Was expect a COMEBACK but all I got was like one good song and it’s better when other people sing it LMAO.
My favorite songs right now are: Applause, Ghost, Blue, Haunted. Flawless, No Angel, and Don’t think they know.

Beyonc

Nope. I wasn’t feeling it with 4. Only like a couple songs from that meanwhile I like every songs off of this album lol.

First semester ripped my face off.
So srs.
Will be on the Dean’s List next semester and every semester thereafter.
Sheeeeeesh. D

Sooo, Descuff and Niquii, who’s got the higher GPA so far?

No lie, stressed, I just laughed so hard!

Oh, man. From what I’ve read from Descuff’s post, I have the higher GPA.

I’m just so happy for grade forgiveness next semester.

Calc 2, man.

Put a damper on what would have been a really good first semester.

You, too, yankee?

I was blessed with a teacher with a teacher whose teaching style and grading system effed me over each and every time!

I’m retaking it next semester. Just found out the teacher I have drops lower test grades! Going to get an A and the new grade will replace my old one.

At least you had a real teacher. I had a grad student TA who was maybe 3 or 4 years older than the kids in my class. His idea of teaching was to copy notes, verbatim, out of the textbook. And you still had to show up to class or risk missing his “pop quizzes”. Truly an awful experience.

Also, the head guy in charge of the math department made the midterm and final and decided it would be a good idea to not tell my instructor what material would be on it and what difficulty it would be. So it was essentially: here’s the textbook, study these chapters, good luck.

I would never retake that class even if it meant getting an A. Way too boring. If I ever had to see another taylor or maclaurin series I think I’d feel sick. I’m even taking a semester off from math and taking Calc III over the summer.

Wow! That must’ve sucked. 0.o On the bright side it’s over with and you don’t have to look back!

When I calculated the grade I needed to move onto Calculus III and found it was near impossible to attain, I was beyond shocked. I could not imagine taking Calculus II again, but now, I see it’s for the better.

I have to retake Calc I. It was NOTHING like AP Calc from hs. All theoretical heresy and craziness.

lol
Also, can we discuss how horrid it is to have TAs teaching you? Especially when they barely grasp the English language. Omggggggg

cowers in fear

I cannot imagine having a TA!

I had a non-traditional freshman experience classes wise. All my classes were 25 people or less and very intimate. All taught by teachers who could communicate perfectly.

I’m graduating May 2016, but you guys look like you could use some help.

[Pauls Online Notes : Calculus I](http://tutorial.math.lamar.edu/Classes/CalcI/CalcI.aspx) is a great resource for many early math classes. Check it out.

Khan academy might also be helpful.

Apparently I’m in the minority, but I liked all my TA’s. I’ve had TA’s from all over Asia, Turkey, Europe, and US. The accents were never a bother, and they were always willing to repeat themselves as many times as needed, or give extra help in office hours. A lot of my TA’s helped me succeed in my classes. I still have 2 of them added on facebook/ linkedin.

Paul’s Notes And Khan Academy offer no assistance to the foolery that went on in that class and on those tests.

Niquii, dem perfect classes, though. haha

And agreed on Khan Academy. It usually helps me with EVERYTHING, but this semester? Nope. xD
