College Class of 2017

I don’t wanna go back Monday. Honestly, I don’t like the structure of college. It’s like they’re trying to teach me how to be a teacher using all the things that are the issue I have with the education system. Too much emphasis on tests and little things like memorizing a formula. Isn’t it far better to know how to use a formula than to know what the thing is off the top of your head? Especially in a society so abundant with different strategies as to reminding ourselves of the things we best not store in our memory but on a note (tangible or digital)…

Long story short, I’m so angry at the educational system and how it doesn’t actually work for me, I might not get to work in it to try to make it better. I’m actually seriously considering trying online classes for as much as I can if I don’t like this next semester.

Gotta love how I only have one route into teaching so I might not get to do it. It’s been what I’ve wanted since I was 5 but I’m reconsidering it. I just don’t know what else I could do. Nothing that anyone would expect from me, I know. I’ve considered going into cosmetology. I’ve also considered wedding planning but that’s something I don’t know how to get started doing unless I start as an assistant to a wedding planner and, frankly, I’m not interested in being a puppy dog. I’m seriously considering the cosmetology at this point because it’s something that can be solid…

I’m bacckkkk. (here and at college). ALMIGHTY BuMP!
@Niquii: No we didn’t lol. Just added random money in there to hype myself up.

Anyway, My old roommate decided to move out and take a semester break (a pity). But I went 4 weeks and I didn’t know I was getting ANOTHER one >.> I was setting myself up for a whole room to myself but i guess not. Wasn’t even informed of this roommate. Like I just walk in and noticed that I have a new roommate. Asian international Korean dude. Should be interesting. ROFL…

Anyway I have my gameplan for this semester and I’m all set up (minus a couple of books I may or may not need).

I had my favorite pizza today! Maybe I can get my milkshake tomorrow? fingers crossed

One more week to go -_-
tbh I’m not as excited as i was a few weeks ago.

This thread is almost as dead as my social life though haha
Without school I dont have much of a life ……still haven’t found a job. I got the ‘oh we’ll call u back line’

School started again today. One of our classes is going to be quite boring for a while. We were reviewing some HS pre-AP physics today.

On a side note, I have realized that the CC parents are just a bit touchy about parenting.

Just a bit, stressed? Lol They’ve been touchy lately…perhaps the cold weather?

@Descuff Ohhh, I see. #motivation

That’s extremely awkward to just walk in and meet your roommate. My university has been sort of ok at notifying people if they’re getting a new roommate. My dorm situation is…interesting right now…#feelinsometypeofway

@ForeIN I feel you. I don’t have much of a social life from and outsider’s point of view. Most of my friends live off campus or go to a different university. I’ve met more people I don’t want to be friends with than I do!

So the people who is in the room above me plays basketball in his room all day. Like dribbles the ball and all. Idk how to deal with this situation. It literally drives me mad!!! Advice?

Exactly! None of my friends (ones from high school) go to the same college as me. Some live nearby but were both too busy to hang out unless its during our semester break.

I haven’t hung out with any of my new friends (ones i met last semester in college) I have some of their numbers but its not like we talk. I feel like its only a friend at school thing & once school ends so does the friendship haha

I’ve made alot more college friends then i intended to so staying in touch is a hassle. At this point im ok with keeping the few old friend from high school that i have.

♬♪No New Friends no no new

Hmm I had someone outside that would do that every Saturday morning. I think it was my neighbor across the street but I always got a headache & was too lazy to check.

I’d say hit the ceiling so he realizes that other people can hear it. If that doesn’t stop him, leave him a note or go up there and tell him to practice at another time or go outside and dribble.

Yaaayusss! Sing it!

Zombie, every time they dribble, you should hit the ceiling. When they stop, you stop.

Orrrrr…you could go up to their room and ask* them, but the first scenario is more entertaining.

*read as “tell”

Thanks for the advice guys, he stopped. I didn’t have to do anything. I think other people heard it to and talked to him.

Lol you know the ironic thing about it is? There is literally a basketball court right outside our window.

Descuff! Descuff!!! Are you ok? Heard your campus had a shooting.

Yes yes. Crazy day today. It was just messy. No one knew what was going on and you could tell that the staffs were untrained for this type of thing. Some profs just kept on teaching after the event and they didn’t even announce class was close till like 5 hours later. Like come on, you gonna tell everyone to resume “normal operation”? Hell most of us can’t even think straight and you want us all to walk in the direction where the shooting take place (academic area is basically on one side of campus). I also should had went the other way when the siren rang and I got the text. I mean it was a tornado siren so I thought they were randomly texting it.

TL;DR (you better had read it): Purdue handled the suspect/victim well. Failing grade in safety/lockdown.

Wow, haven’t been on here in a while.
First semester went smashingly, grade-wise. 3 A+'a, 2 A’s, and an A-. Now, I only liked 2 or 3 of the classes I took, but I was kind of expecting that. My next semester classes are going to be much more interesting though. I’ve got:
Intermediate Programming in C
Digital Logic Design
Physics 2
US History from 1865 on
Honors Cybersecurity class (basically a honeypot project)

I just wish I could’ve squeezed in a math, but I only need Diff Eq now, so it’s not awful. =P

College grading is so seismic. I got a B in Discrete Math/Linear Algebra after working my scaly tail off, but I did almost nothing in Religion and ended with an A+.

Wow… Long time since I’ve been on CC!
Logged in for kicks.

College grading is weird… A drop from a 98 to a 92, which in (my) high school were essentially equal grades, causes a GPA drop of .6 for that class… Crazy!

That being said, I ended up with a B+, three A-s, and an A… For a 3.67.
Not great, but not too bad. I’d have had a 3.8 something (I think), but there was one week where I was sick and moody and refused to write any papers, and only went to class if it was terribly important. That week (due to essay lateness and crappiness) was the cause of that A not being an A+, and an A- not being an A.

College has been pretty good if you ask me, but I know a lot of people who want to transfer… So obviously everyone doesn’t think that way. >.<

Also, rant… I have a professor who takes TWO points off of your average for EACH class you miss. That’s nuts.
Plus, she says her lectures are “supplemental”… If they’re supplemental, why is the grading detrimental? I think she’s just mental.
See what I did there? Rhyming FTW.
Anyway, what’s up, people?

My last semester made me hate math. I want to blame the prof because his grading was just outrageous. I mean, I had a panic attack on every single test because they’re just so hard that working on half of one takes forever and then I’d panic realizing I’d never finish. And then he graded by essentially seeing how many points he could justify taking off. It was like sadism. I had already taken Calc 1 as had my friend. He got a C+, I walked out of the final and chose to fail the class because it was just that horrid.

If I keep up with the Business Administration and stay in like Management or Marketing or I think even Accounting, I only have to take one more math class. Which makes me happy.

This place would be a whole lot better if I could use my curse words and actually emphasize the parts that need emphasis. That’s the thing with a lot of smart kids. We use our sailor mouths to emphasize what we say.

Richard Sherman didn’t have to.

Ah, the joys of no more GPA grading.

We just have exams at the end of each semester. I had one at the end of this semester, and the rest are in June. So it’s going to be quite a lot of exams. And the grading system is basically 70 and up is a 1st class, 60 to70 is a 2:1, etc. My dad says you need at least a 2:1 to get a good job, and he’s generally pretty strict grade wise.
I know 70 sounds really low, but if you see how difficult our exams can be, it’s really not.

I totally do NOT understand your grading system at all stress, but from what I can tell it is good thing. So I hope you get that 70! What is this super hard class anyway?

Ok this new look it too trippy for me. Can I change the color??
