College Class of 2017

@CS
umm those sound like jobs not clubs……

And Happy Bday Jade!!!

Lol yeah those are more like jobs…

And woah it was Jade’s Birthday yesterday!?! HAPPY (late) BIRTHDAY JADE!!!

The tour guide thing is entirely student run, 100% volunteer.
The student newspaper. I don’t know if you were paid to do it at your high school, but mine was a club.
MODEL UNITED NATIONS. How is that job?

Thanks guys

Tour guides are a club you have to apply for though. Which makes them a more complicated thing. They don’t want just anyone giving tours.
The student newspaper is similar at most places.

Happy belated birthday Serenity.

Danke.

We had Rock the Block tonight. It was awesome.

Meh. I keep trying to go out with my roommate and some other people on my floor. I like them, but no matter how much I try to convince myself otherwise I hate parties with loud music and tons of people, which is what they do every weekend.

I should just accept the fact that I don’t like beer and frat parties, but these are the only people I really know at my school, and if I don’t go out with them I have even less to do on weekends… Is this another “just wait” situation?

lol at least you know someone, I’ve been here for a month and haven’t met anyone mostly because of the lack of time, since I took a really heavy course load, but also because I hate parties and I don’t drink

I know people, but not anyone who I can really call to hang out or something. That’s the problem :p

Well I only know my roommate and a couple people, apparently the norm as a freshman here at Duke is to go out partying but meh I don’t like that and I don’t have time either.

I wouldn’t say it’s the norm here… Well, maybe it is. In a school with 40,000 people there are people who don’t party, I just haven’t met too many yet. I don’t even mind drinking, I just have no tolerance for loud music and tons of people. I’m much happier hanging out with 3 people I know than 50 people I don’t.

Thats true, well its friday night

“School with 40,000”
Wait do you go to Purdue??

Anyway I think most people would only have 1-5 good/close friends at this point. I only know of 3 people beside my roommate. My roommate is in a frat but I doubt he drinks but he sleeps there occasionally. I only got lucky with my friends because of the first week. However only like one of them isn’t in a frat (thank god someone’s not chained). There been no “school” party since like the 3rd week so it’s kinda a drag. I notice the guys on my floor are just more comfortable and would be open to a simple outing or whatever. But everything is pretty chill.

btw Buranri, you don’t really have to go to a party if you don’t want to. Don’t do it to yourself just because you want someone to hang out with.

Nah I go to Ohio State. You’re probably right, but I also don’t feeling like spending all my weekends watching Netflix.

^I agree (although everyone be playing GTAV :P

Is the problem looking for something to do at night or all weekend? If like all weekend there probably SOME events or clubs (School clubs of course) that you could get involved in. But idk, I never really tried myself.

Yes, because every school with a 40,000 student population is Purdue, Descuff.

Can’t blame me. Purdue said exactly around 40,000 students.

So I kinda set off the smoke alarm trying to cook myself dinner…

Yo people! Where you at!? This thread is deader than my brain at the end of the week.

cooking for yourself + cleaning for yourself + doing laundry + studying + trying to make new friends + looking for stuff to settle in properly +skyping family A LOT = little time for CC
