I’m glad I have a Facebook. I have ~950 friends, which works out well because I’m not very social IRL. I’m not sure what the correlation between IRL friends and Facebook friends is, but I suspect I’m not a terribly unusual case.

I don’t know why anyone would want so many Facebook friends. You don’t even talk to (or care) about 850 of them. I still need to go through and delete people.

Like…think about it. 950 people. Can you even name off all of those people? Do those people even know you’re Facbook friends with them? Do they even care about you? What does someone get out of having 1,000 friends on Facebook?

This is not directly to you, ember. My class had a discussion about this last week.

If you have over 200 friends on Facebook you are lonely and possibly a suicidal maniac

Like someone at Purdue I knoe

@Niquii77
I couldn’t name more than a few hundred off the top of my head. Most of them I never talk to. Many I’ve never even met in real life. But I don’t think any of this invalidates them being my Facebook friends. We both know that they’re not all my real friends, and this is fine. We can contact one another when we need to. I think of my friend list like an address book, not an actual, continually updated list of who’s most precious to me.

I’ve only unfriended two people in about three and a half years of me having a Facebook account. I didn’t know either in real life, I never talked to them, and they were constantly spamming me after being hacked.

There are like 50 people I never talked to personally. Everyone else I met at one point.
@kyp… I’m a little disturbed by your post… are you a stalker? I don’t believe I added you >.>
Also your argument is flawed. I seen people with 500+ friends in worse OR better position IRL than me.
And I’m not an emo <.<

But I agree with Niquii, it seem like we’re just adding random WORTHLESS people just because of something we did on FB or something. In reality you should only have around 10 good friends max. It’s nice to know that you can contact these people but… idk it’s just… idk.

Perhaps I do only have 10 good friends max.

Just messing with you descuff

One of my Facebook friends has nearly 5k friends. 5k is the maximum…

I’m debating adding an English or History minor…

That is simply ridiculous. 5,000 Facebook friends. I’d feel like Patrick Star walking up to his rock every time I log into to Facebook, “Who ARE you people??”

My philosophy is this: My friends are people who I can count on. I have their best interests in mind and they have my best interests in mind. If you don’t fall into that mold…simply put, you’re not what I consider a friend.

This makes sense due to the fact the I am an introvert.

^^If you care enough about the coursework, take classes for the minor. If you decide you don’t want the full Monty, you’ll at least be in classes that you enjoy.

^Not that I don’t understand your reasoning, but there are lots of introverts with lots of Facebook friends. I’m almost as much so as they come and, well, 950.

My western civ prof: “Only Osama bin Laden thinks-Well, he doesn’t think anymore.”

Do y’all’s schools have those crushes Facebook pages? Because people on my campus are pretty entertained by ours. And we found JMU’s Ratchet Crushes thing. It’s interesting…

*My philosophy is this: My friends are people who I can count on. I have their best interests in mind and they have my best interests in mind. If you don’t fall into that mold…simply put, you’re not what I consider a friend. *

This is in the context of “actual friends” or what some call your “circle of friends”. Not Facebook friends. Because one is an introvert does not mean they don’t have a lot of Facebook friends. There simply is not a strong correlation. And like you said ember, Facebook friends don’t equal real friends.

Niquii? An introvert?

Never have I ever!

Serenity WE do! We have a secret admirer page BUT we also have a secret confession page which is more popular.

The confessions page is not at all popular compared to the Crushes page

I havent seen a confedsions page, but the crush page is…another level of desire. These guys and girls are the thirstiest of the thirsty.

I think you can facebook “Purdue Confessions” and see what’s up

Will I be able to unsee what I see, Descuff. I don’t want to be scarred for life.
