<p>Just to clarify: I am her mother, and I found CC first and told her about it. I interview for another university. My daughter used CC during her college search and continues to go on CC to help other students now that she is a freshman at college. When I’m wrong, I do not mind being told so in public, even by my daughter. She did tell me first, and she did ask my permission. I do, however, mind how I am told! My D did it nicely. Columbia2002 was right, but to tell me I am making a cretin out of myself? That is something my daughter would never say, to anyone, over a grammatical error. (And she’s joking about that being the first time I’ve been wrong, of course!)</p>

<p>I still find it hard to think of diction in the written word. Diction comes from the latin verb dicere, meaning to say or speak. It is hard to think think of the word in a non-oral context. You can take the boy out of the Latin class, but you can’t take the Latin out of the boy. (Actually it isn’t necessary to try to take the Latin out of the boy. The boy will forget it quickly enough on his own, but there are a few bits that stuck.)</p>
<p>I don’t think you need to take Latin out of the boy nowadays, it’s a dead language anyway, that is if you neglect a few old old old old ppl in you know where, :D. But I still love the pope and not just because he’s German.</p>
<p>I find it very funny indeed that someone that graduated from Columbia in 2002 is still posting on these boards and making personal ad hominem attacks against high school students. Funny in a strange, sad, and pathetic way.</p>
