College decisions: UMD Smith ($60k/y) vs GW School of Business ($60k/y) vs ASU WP Carey+Barrett Hons ($45k/y) vs Cal Poly SLO Business ($53 k/y)

Concluded all four college visits - tough and amazing choices ahead of us, decision week coming up.

ASU was very nice - warm, energetic and very flexible programming. Since my son got into Barrett honors, the options to choose the courses are priority and also their space, buildings, housing, dining, etc are all top notch. He is keen on business, information systems and business analytics.

Calpoly - the weather was a dampner, the B school is solid - a bit more rigid that other schools we visited - UMD or ASU - the career opportunities are strong, the connection of community and employers to academics, the practical learning by doing mission is all very strong. The location is nice - smallish compared to the urban aspects of the other options.

GWU and UMD are also amazing options for us.

thank you community for the encouragement, feedback and support…

Looking forward to hearing where he ends up and why.

Sounds like all four would work great - so that’s the beauty of this - no wrong answers.

This is very uncommon. Our running joke when our son was there was “How’s the weather?” “Seventy and sunny” was always his reply. It can be that way so often that a little rain is actually welcomed.

Was wet all weekend, their plans were completely in disarray. Also an area that could do with rain!

The weather in SLO was very, very atypical that weekend. It’s usually overcast in the early morning and sunny by mid-morning in the 70’s. Truly, some of the best weather around. Hopefully, the weather you experienced isn’t a deciding factor.
