College football 2023 šŸˆ

If Georgia and Michigan win tomorrow, then Michigan will probably get Washington in a semifinal, probably the Rose Bowl. One last B1G-Pac12 matchup for nostalgia.

D18 turned to me and said ā€œMichigan has a better D-line than Oregon.ā€

The new Indiana coach says:

You would think both Michigan and OSU wouldn’t be on the 2024 Indiana Football schedule, but you would be wrong. Indiana plays them back-to-back with a bye week in between. And then Purdue as their last game of the season.

Twice. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: That 62nd rank in SOS caught up with them.

Face it. The media had a Bo Nixon for Heisman narrative it wanted fulfilled. Oh, well.

I wanted Washington, too, just to get Oregon in the two-loss category. And because I’m a contrarian and rejected Oregon’s ranking.

I went to the UT volleyball tourney tonight. Off to regionals they go! Hoping football can do its thing, too.

This is what I am counting on. Penix made some nice throws. Good running back. But first things first

I’m a Husky fan, so a win over Oregon is sweet. Even sweeter in the conference championship. I’ll give Oregon credit; they are a very good team.

Go Dawgs!!! :heart::black_heart::pray::pray:

Great game last night. Congrats to both Wash and Oregon on that close game but the best team won.

I’m guessing many members of the selection committee are quietly hoping Georgia beats Bama today to make their jobs easier, but my S23 is at Bama now so I’m pulling for the upset. If that happens, combined with a Florida State loss, I think there’s a chance that both Bama and Georgia could end up in the CFP. After Oregon’s loss last night, I think you would have Georgia, Bama, Ohio State, and Texas competing for the 3-6 slots, with Michigan moving up to #1 and Washington to #2. Ohio State would have a hard time moving into the top 4 without playing, and Texas may have a hard time moving all the way up from #7 since they are only playing #18 Okla. St. in their championship. I think it’s at least possible that the committee keeps Georgia in the top 4 even with a loss but moves Bama up to join the CFP by virtue of the win. Just random musings on my part, but these games are fun to play on a Saturday morning. :grinning:

Assuming Texas wins, there is zero chance a non conference champion Ohio State will be selected over Texas.

Conference champions matter. And the reality is, there are only 2 teams in the Big 10 that can throw a forward pass.

If Texas wins and Louisville wins, Texas will make it.

Welcome to the Big Ten, Washington. Your first conference game will probably be in the playoff against Michigan. (assuming Georgia beats Bama…)

ETA:

This would have been a great year for an 8-team playoff. Based on the latest playoff rankings, these would have been the first-round matchups:

8Alabama vs. 1Georgia
5Oregon vs. 4FSU

6Ohio State vs. 3Washington
7Texas vs. 2Michigan

(salivating)

But you are all overlooking the real college football game of the day, the Colorado School of Mines Orediggers, just a bunch of engineers and computer geeks, are playing for a national championship

They play the schedule that they have in front of them and Oregon played the #3 team twice and lost. They could still be or beat the #4 team in the country.

I’m not even an Oregon fan, but I’m hoping Oregon and Texas play each other in a bowl and I’ll be rooting for the West Coast team.

We’re sure to have at least a couple of really juicy New Year’s Six games.

I do not care who wins between Alabama and Georgia as long as only one goes to the playoff. So probably best that Georgia wins so there will be a true playoff to the extent that is possible.

Very much appreciate he got the team back on track, but to be honest, wouldn’t mind seeing him move on and Moore take over.

Not sure what that would take as he’s turned down much more lucrative packages to stay with his home team, but anything’s possible I guess. If he leaves, it will be the end of an era for sure.

He’s coming to the CHICAGO BEARS… plus the Bears love JJ… We will take MHJr… trade down our pick for assets

Very interesting if Alabama can hold this lead.

I’m hoping Michigan is paying attention to the bama score and last night’s Pac-12 championship and will heed the flashing warning light on the dashboard.
