College Football Revenue Loss By School If Season Is Cancelled

Woooosh! (noise of flushing of toilet). And there it goes. That old Stanford (and kinda-sorta “similarly” Cal and UCLA) “high-mindedness” sure left in a hurry.

I’m sure the CA schools will get a variance from their respective counties to begin practice. Gyms now allow 10% of capacity inside, so a 100-150 or so players, coaches, staff, etc. outside on a huge field or several fields should be OK’ed, I’d think.

But he wasn’t practicing or playing. He was just a student at a school (that was online only) and he caught the virus. Some young people are going to catch the virus and a small number are going to be very ill. The same happens with all contagious diseases. I knew a 3 year old who died from chickenpox and several who died from flu or seizures. It is not common but it does happen.

This spring one of the youngest to die from the virus in Colorado was a 21 year old Mesa college baseball player. He didn’t catch the virus at Mesa or from another baseball player. He caught the virus when the school closed and he returned home to complete his semester online from his parents’ home. Both his parents had the virus and it is assumed he caught it from them. Really, he just happened to be a college student who was also an athlete, but that didn’t have anything to do with him catching the virus.

I don’t know what more CU of P could have done. It cancelled in person classes and it cancelled football.
