<p>With the campuses being separated by 45 miles, even with a merger, these 2 campuses would still maintain their individual “flavor”. A merger would work if the campuses were close enough so that one doesn’t have to drive 45-min to 1-hour, for example, to do a collaborative research project (how many days of the week can someone do this?). At the end of the day, I think the merger would be great if the Univ of MD “brand name” can be strengthened - but I’m not sure that a catchy merged name can be thought up that would decrease outsider confusion which already exists as evidenced by some of the posts on this thread.</p>
