College pet peeves

The skateboarders don’t bother me much, possibly because I sometimes skate to class… The bricks give you the most wonderful foot massage, too. And because there is a sound, you can guesstimate speed of the rider and knwo when they are going to pass you.

As someone who bikes to class, I get annoyed at skinny sidewalks. Most sidewalks here at UCF are wide enough to drive on, because the maintennance guys do, late at night. (the cops too…really wierd to have a cop pull up next to you if you are out walking late at night) Those are great, because you can always fit around people without getting too close. The skinny ones are just awkward, you have to go really slow to follow behind one person until there’s a break in “oncoming traffic.” And my brakes are noisy, so I hate using them.

My roommates are ok too, but it’s an apartment style dorm. They still can be noisy, and sometimes when they don’t think I’mhere but I am, they’ll talk about me behind my back to their friends. Because it’s apartment style, I don’t know anyone elsein the dorm but the RA. Overall, I know about 10 people on campus. And I really don’ tknow them well. I don’t know all of their last names, I don’t know any of their phone numbers…so I guess my pet peeve is that apartment style dorms as a freshman doesn’t let you know people. 50 thousand students, and I knew none of them when I moved here. After a month, I know about 10 as acquantences.

Other pet peeve: roommates didn’t bring their own silverware or plates, so they use mine. And they almost never wash them. The sink is usually full of dirty dishes. Also, they never carried out the trash. Finally one of them bought a bigger trashcan (mine wasn’t very big) and now they empty it about half the time, and I empty it the other half. I really wish they would wash the stuff when they use it, and empty the trash when they see that it is full.
