how was motherdear making fun?
Even I know that is the required response at West Point
Or rather that is how the underclassmen get back at the Firsties ;)

It would be $350 for the ring in 10k gold, metal top. My parents keep offering to buy me one, as my sister didn’t get one and now really regrets it. The school only offers one design, and it’s not terrible looking (year on one side, degree on the other, with engravings of the school seal and the statue of the school’s namesake). I want the small version of it, so it’s about the same size as a normal ring. The only snag I can find is that I can’t get my full degree on it. I’m getting a BSIS, and I can only get BS on the ring.

At the same time, I’m thinking that I could get that nice Nikon flash I’ve been eying for cheaper, and probably get more use out of it… ;)

i wasn’t going to get my college ring until my mother kept nagging me to get it. the thing was expensive $$$$ and i still haven’t received it in the mail. i bought it from balfour exactly one month ago. anyone know how long these things take to come?

Neither my college senior D or college junior S has ANY interest in getting the ring. In fact, they both were very clear that it would be a “waste of money”.

H nor I ever got rings from our college, but I offered to get one in case the kids wanted it.

Seems to be a very personal, and even campus-by-campus choice.
Personally, I kind of like the tradition of it all and wish they did want one.

I got a high school ring which I never wear. I didn’t get a college ring (couldn’t afford it) and now wish I had. They are quite nice and I think I WOULD wear it.

My daughter didn’t get a high school ring. I discouraged it. But if she wants a college ring, I wouldn’t discourage that.
