I heard that UC Berkley suggests or wants a letter of recommendation to supplement? Considering the colleges I am looking at should I ask for letters in case?
I would ask for LOR’s just in case you are asked to submit, if you are waitlisted or have to appeal.
In terms of an engineering major, what type of subject teacher should I be going for a LOR? (I have not taken Chemistry yet)
I would get one Science/Math teacher and an English/History teacher for the other. Both do not have to come from a STEM teacher. It always nice to have opinions from 2 different subject areas.
When you write your essays, make sure you spell the college names correctly. Berkeley has 3 e’s, not 2.

However, I am looking at my major that I am looking into (engineering, computer science) and Physics seems like the better pick, but I have only taken mechanics so far and I am learning E/M now. Some people have told me to take the test later, like maybe November or December? Or I could try and learn through Barron’s and take the October. Don’t know what to do.

You should consider UCB, UCLA, and UCSD reaches, because even though you’re totally within range, they’re very selective for engineering and admisions are holistic so hard to predict.
UCM is your definite safety via ELC.
UCSC would be a good second safety.
I know you indicated you like public universities more and it sounds like you have financial need, but why not consider HarveyMudd? They meet 100% need and are part of a consortium with 7,000 students so it wouldn’t be as small as, say, CalTech. Run the Net Price Calculator on USC too. Both of those may be affordable.
I will be considering privates near my area if there is aid involved. I will be looking into that.
Any opinions on if I should take the SAT Bio test Physics from my questions above?

Take both in November. Do try to score 700+ since subject tests are supposed to show your best ability.
I found out that my capped GPA is 4.17.
Should I be doing early action or desicion if I want to get into a scoecif school. I heard that the competition would be higher? I would like to get into UCSD the most.
Are you asking about UC’s? UC’s do not have EA or ED, only RD.
At the risk of sounding snarky, Admissions really does not like it if you keep misspelling the college name. Hint: the great UC close to Silicon Valley has been consistently misspelled by at least 2 kids here. Your homework for today is to check how to spell some UCs before you apply to them…

BUMP: I’m having trouble deciding the order I want for the colleges at UCSD (Revelle, Muir, Marshall, Warren, Eleanor Roosevelt, or Sixth). I am currently applying as a computer science major and I know that plays a role in deciding the college.
