College Suggestions?

Bump hehe

What to you want to do in college? There’s nothing here that says CS or Environmental Science or Creative Writing or anything. If you need engineering you’re going to be looking at a much narrower set of schools than more basic degrees like Bio or Math. Also, if CS is important to you (as Coding Club indicates) then stay in it and put it on your transcript. If you were thinking medical school or you just think it would be an awesome class then take the physiology. At some point your interests need to have a say in front of what you hope others will see as Impressive. Let your choices paint a picture of who you are and what you want.

Finally, if you want to do “real” research chances are good you’ll be going to graduate school anyway, so your undergrad choice might not be the goal you have in mind. Separate out graduate school reputation from what undergrads typically get to do on each specific campus. As mentioned above, some research schools are oriented to graduate programs and other places are centered on teaching. (When my little brother was looking at schools many years ago a friend described one of the former places as a massive aggregation of famous graduate programs with a lot of 19 years olds around to go to football games and annoy TAs.) On the other hand when I was in school at a small LAC in MN we had a pretty famous medical researcher on campus that was always hiring students to clean rat cages and do simple stuff around the lab. I was more a rat cage guy, but it was a fascinating place to work.
