<p>I just wanted to say thank you for this thread. I have older children who may have liked some of these schools, but years ago there were no Hillels or opportunities for any Jewish life, so they did not consider them.</p>
<p>I think many of these schools are excellent opportunities and I would not have known this without this thread.</p>

I can’t just tell the caller that my son is already going to Elon, they want to know why he didn’t consider their school and what they could have done to interest him more? </p>

<p>Congtrats on Elon, not we did not get calls for my older kids, but the armed forces do call. That was a while ago, so I don’t know if this changed. They just accepted the college they wanted and that was it.</p>

<p>My D, who is a junior, received one call from a college earlier this week, a few days after receiving a mailing from them based on the PSAT info. I was very surprised.</p>
<p>Haha…my daughter who is an enrolled freshman is still getting college mail…</p>
<p>Just sent the check, contract and dorm request off to Ringling, so dd has committed! Very exciting, but a little scary for me!</p>

<p>Very true. We grew up in the East and moved out west. Would love to find a way to share with our kids the richness of the Jewish friendships we knew.</p>

<p>mail from colleges- for those whose kids have not yet taken the PSAT, tell them NOT to check that box saying they want their info shared with colleges…unless you want to be inundated with brochures from various colleges! My D2 didn’t take the PSAT and we never got any of that annoying mail.</p>
<p>phone calls: D1 and D2 both received a few random unsolicited phone calls, but in the large majority of cases the only colleges we received calls from were those that they had applied to/sent SAT scores to/been accepted at.</p>

<p>S found out yesterday that he is a finalist and invited to the Business Fellows competition during Fellows weekend at Elon. Very excited. Would be awesome for him if he becomes a fellow.</p>

<p>re: college phone calls - be careful what you wish for…</p>
<p>My D received no mail, no emails & no phone calls from colleges after taking the PSAT & SAT. While all D’s friends’ parents were complaining about the boxes of college junk mail and the incessant annoying calls, I was thinking, “What’s wrong with my girl?” Truly, they were whining and I was green-eyed!</p>
<p>My D was more practical & less emotional than her mom, saying, “Put your head down & plow ahead. Isn’t that what you’ve told me?”</p>
<p>So, like Samtalya (congrats-fingers crossed for your son to become a Fellows!), be grateful your child is desirable to colleges. Embrace those annoying phone calls, for what if there were none coming in at all? It is a gift that, at this stressful time in his/her life, a child knows the joy of feeling wanted! </p>
<p>This week, my D received her first college call. :)</p>
