This is from 2 years ago and I am sure I have posted it before - but it speaks to what I was saying above about Jewish students being in demand:

A 10-12% Jewish student body is great at a small LAC. And the Jewish Studies minor and some Kosher food options tell me they Lafayette wants to further Jewish life on thier campus. All good signs to me.

Thanks, RVM. I just saw that on the UMD board. But my DS (and I do mean “D” S) is working out in the basement and cannot be interrupted even for a college decision (one that, as he points out to me, will be the same whether he looks now or in an hour). I just hope he has his log-in info.

Oh, forget Friday. The folks on the Miami board are making me crazy, saying that the decisions will be released ALPHABETICALLY. We are M. That puts us at the end of NEXT WEEK.

Wine, shmine. I’m getting the VODKA.

(Actually, he may be anxious for the Miami decision. That’s the one he really wants.)

My gray hair keeps popping up, RVM, but I try to keep it colored!

Linymom! Mazel Tov! So what are the acceptances at this point? Vitrac…how about you? Congrats to all other acceptances and welcome to new posters!

Sounds like Friday is decision day for UMiami? Yikes, crossing fingers & toes for that one!

Very relieved that today Ursinus came through with big merit $. That’s my top choice so far of where DS has been accepted, but who knows what he thinks.

Great news! Congrats to Linymom and Jayneb on the UMD acceptances. My D has a lot of friends who love Maryalnd. Congrats to Pkd’s S on the merit $$.

Congrats to LINYMOM and Jayneb!
Chocchip- D2 didn’t apply to UMd. We have some other great choices and are awaiting Miami, hopefully in a few days. Awaiting UTexas after that.
Good luck to everyone playing that waiting game.

thanks for the good wishes!
linymom: Congrats to your son! And fingers crossed for good news on Friday! We are going to see Tulane & Elon next month, then revisit Maryland and Syracuse (if she gets in) before she makes up her mind. I absolutely loved Maryland when we visited and think it would be a great fit for her but ultimately the choice is hers to make.
pkdof13: congrats on the merit money at Ursinus. We know a few people there who are very happy!

As for OU, there is a small Hillel and I think there is at least 1 Jewish fraternity, not sure about sororities. There is a small Jewish community in OKC (about 45 minutes from OU) with one Reform and one Conservative synagogue, Chabad House and a Federation. OU students who want to become involved in OKC are very welcome, but it isn’t the same as campus Jewish life. From my college searches, it appears that U of AL has a slightly larger Jewish student population than OU. U of AL is not too far from Birmingham, which has a larger Jewish community than OKC. KU has a substantially larger Jewish student population than OU or U of AL. KU is not terribly far from the Kansas City metro area which has a larger Jewish community than OKC, also. I understand that U of Arizon has a large Jewish student population. Good luck to you on finding the right school.

I’m fairly new to this forum, thread and CC in general and am trying to step out of lurking status. First, congrats on all the acceptances I’ve read about in the past couple of days. Second, I just wanted to introduce myself. I’m so relieved to find Jewish parents who are highly involved in their kids college search and sharing information specific to Jewish campus life as well as other factors. My D is a junior and we are spending a lot of time discussing what factors are important to her in a college and I am doing a lot of on-line research to find the best matches of academics, school size, location, campus life, financial aid and, of course, an active Jewish organization and preferably at least a Jewish Studies minor. She’s a bit overwhelmed and I’m a bit pushy, but trying to maintain low drama levels. It sounds like you have a very supportive and knowldgeable group here. I wanted to let you know that your posts are very helpful and I’ve been enjoying reading them.
