Hi everyone and congrats on all the incredible acceptances. I read them, smile and hope that next year at this time I will be able to share some great news!

PKdof13: I live in the next town over from Bryn Mawr so if you need any local info or if your daughter ends up there and needs a family nearby, I’m here…

We went to Colorado for spring break and did the tour of UC Boulder which my son LOVED, not much not to love for a 17 year old skier. We wanted to see Colorado college but they were on spring break too, and in such a small school we were told it would be like visiting a ghost town. Still thinking about taking my son to Elon this weekend, but life is a bit hectic right now (we just started a remodel project of our master bedroom and bath, living in the play room, my 97 year old grandmother fell and had hip surgery so I’m spending a lot of time with her and as a family photographer - spring is a busy time work wise).

Right now if anyone cares… my list is as follows
UC Boulder - should get in, not sure about how big and the party rep. it has
Colorado College- where my gut say’s he should be, but tough to get in (he feels it too)
Elon- good fit, he doesn’t understand NC and where he would ski or or wakeboard?
University of Vermont- kind of feel if we are doing that, I should let the kid be in Colorado
Quinnipiac- don’t know much, but interesting choice and should easily get in
U.Conn- on our list to visit, not sure about it
U Mass- people seem unhappy here, so might cross this off the list
Clark U. I like a lot of things about this school but the surrounding area is dangerous?
Eckerd: thought florida would be great, safety school?
University of Miami: he would love it, it’s a reach but he want’s to go for it.
Syracuse: he thinks it will be just like his high school, but I think we should look at it
Brandeis: reach school, I think
Tulane: reach possibly not? he’s intrigued by it

His stats: 4.2 this year but 3.4 before this year has taken lots of honors a few AP and some IB (he just discovered that studying actually works) Just took his first SAT’s in March and got 630 reading, 640 math and 640 writing (I’m assuming they will go up, but I was pleased with those scores for a first time). He has his own film business and works for the top cinematographer in Philly for a year now. He’s artistic and business minded, quirky and interviews and writes very well so thinking he will do better with a school that gives interviews and essay’s a lot of weight (like Colorado College)…

any words of wisdom for this overbearing, control freak Mom who is driving my son up a wall. Oh, I put SAT words all over the house in areas he frequents like the fridge, next to the toilet seat, in his bathroom mirror, where he keeps his car keys… he’s really ready to turn me in for a sane mom.
