With respect to the appeal of Colgate’s village, it appeared in a Forbes article, “America’s Friendliest Towns” (see link, below). Beyond its immediate setting, I’d describe Colgate’s greater surroundings as authentically rural.

Davidson is a SLAC with a really cute little downtown which is a nice suburb of Charlotte (also a fun and nice city with lots to do).

This - my kid LOVES it there. The town and beautiful campus are a big part of it. As soon as you get off onto Franklin Street, the whole vibe shifts and it’s so lovely.

Orange is a nice town. Very close to campus.

Ohio Wesleyan has a cute town adjacent to campus.

College of Wooster had a cute town maybe a mile from campus.

Denison has a cute town that reminded me a bit of Cape Cod.

UNH has a cute town adjacent to campus.

Plymouth State in NH has a cute town as well.

Gettysburg is more of a tourist town but still very cute.

Agree on Gettysburg. Tourist town but easily walkable from the college with a lot of little shops and restaurants. Love visiting the area.

+1 vote on this. It was in my college freshman’s top 3. Georgetown, TX often gets voted as the best small town in TX. It’s pretty awesome.

Centre College in Danville, KY. The college is, like, smack dab next to the downtown area. Feels like Main Street, USA. Several restaurants a short walk from campus + some stores to browse in. The college has a shuttle bus, if I remember correctly, that does regular trips to the local grocery store & Walmart. ~45 min drive from the Lexington, KY airport.

This school was my kid’s #2 on her list when we were at the end of senior year of high school. They have some really great non-need-based scholarships, too. Wish that my younger kid wanted to attend there!
