My European and Asian colleagues find it really odd (or funny) that we Americans wear clothing with our college names on it

I sometimes wear a Harvey Mudd shirt to the gym and if anyone is familiar with it I have great respect for them!
I bought some sun visors with my college name on them back in 2020 when the reunion was cancelled and held on zoom and we were asked to support the college store. I often forget they are logo’ed until someone says something.
