Good luck, OP. I think the videos, for the most part, are to provide some sense of what a student’s non-academic time could be and what the facilities are. Course catalogs and departmental requirements can usually be found on line. THE videos are meant, I think, to round out the picture, especially for applicants who can’t visit.
I suppose one way to look at it is that during the 4 years, a student is also maturing into adulthood. IS this a place where he/she will thrive in that process? College should be fun, imo, as well as academic. Life is a balance of responsibility and enjoyment. This is a step toward working that out.
@intparent Which college is that?? I’m trying to guess, but all I could think of was Eckerd or Rollins. It actually sounds pretty nice. LOL

Ironically, neither my husband nor I had a “traditional” college experience, and we really hope our kids DO get to experience it-it sounds nice!
Our college experience consisted of working all day and going to school all night (in my case STILL DOING IT, in my husband’s case he did get a more traditional graduate experience, which was nice for him). Ghastly hard work. Not much fun.
I would totally be ok with my CS major kid doing a ceramics minor, or a paddleboarding minor.
