Colleges with best/worst names

Yeah it is^

Well, “Brand Eis” is German for “Fire and Ice”, which pretty much makes it the most bad-ass college name there is. :)

Renssalaer Polytechnic Institute… (I probably didn’t even spell it right)

Stanford sounds so cool to say. :D

Best- USC (not the acronym), Vanderbilt, Villanova, Duke. There are others but i cant think of them right now.

Worst- Wabash, Worcester polytechic (if you know how to pronounce worcester you will know why) Colgate, American University (so lame and unoriginal), Johns Hopkins (to annoying to pronouce)

Dude - Tufts Jumbo sounds hellla awesome
Come on guys an elephant is like the best mascot ever, well aside from the trojan and phoenix, which are also badass.

And yeah the worst: Ball State

“Yo guys I love BALLS!!!..tate”

Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

Like, seriously?

^Oh ****, silverturtle has some competition haha

^ Yeah, I don’t know who that is. :)

^It’s sort of creepy actually haha

California University of Pennsylvania

[Homepage : CAL U - California University of Pennsylvania](<a href=“PennWest California | PennWest California”>PennWest California | PennWest California)

yipee, I win for the strangest name

^^ Well, if you don’t count the fact that Calif U of Pa has been mentioned 12 times already in this thread, as far back as post # 40

^ Then it’s a tie, and they are all winners.

Tied with Miami of Ohio??

Always wanted to walk into the house announcing where I was going to college, wearing this t-shirt http://tisbookbsu.com/MerchDetail.aspx?MerchID=809753

but was afraid it’d give my parents a coronary. Slippery Rock State was another prime choice, as was Gustavus Adolphus College. What a mouthful.

whenever i hear/see Tufts, I always imagine their quad covered with tufts of grass or some images of golf players hitting the ball and managing to get a tuft of grass up in the air also

wabash, walla walla, and kalamazoo are pretty bad…
princeton, USC, and dartmouth sound nice

I always liked the name Bard, even though my tour didn’t work out so well there… it suits the school well (i always remember the literary term because of it!) . Not to mention it has a nice ring to it. The name Macalester is kind of sweet.

Bad names~ Kalamazoo (although it’s such a nice school I have a hard time making fun of it). And of course I have to rip on Ball State, even though it’s been knocked down so many times…

the name Earlham just sounds funny, not really bad or good. But same as above, I feel bad making fun of it because I had a good experience touring there…

Edit: wow, everyone thinks the name “Bard” is bad except for me?

best sounding: Cambridge, Princeton, Villanova, Georgetown, Duke (I like waspy sounding names)
worst sounding: WUSTL, Bowdoin, USC (boring), Grinnell(smile!),

I agree that the name WUSTL is kinda weird. But I dont think people call it WUSTL. They usually go by Washington University, WashU, or the whole name which is…Washington University in St. Louis. I know it’s long, but it’s still shorter than some schools’ such as University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Anyway, I like Imperial College and Stanford.
