UNM has both guaranteed/automatic merit and competitive merit.
Automatic–
National Merit Finalists get a full, free ride (Tuition fees, Room & board, plus books/computer allowance.)
Amigo–23 ACT/1130 SAT plus a 3.5GPA OR 26 ACT/1230 SAT plus a 3.0 GPA gets instate tuition (Instate tuition & fees are $7,552/year)
WUE (western state residents only) and LUE (everywhere else) require 19 ACT /990 SAT and 3.0 GPA get 1.5x instate tuition (or $13.700/year discount on OOS rates)
WUE Plus and LUE Plus require 22 ACT/1100 SAT and 3.0 GPA and gets instate rates (a $16,600 discount on OOS rates)

Competitive–
Regents Scholarship requires 31 ACT/1390 SAT and 3.9 GPA to apply. Full ride–tuition fees, honors housing, meals. 25 scholarships awarded each year.
