Yes! The fact that colon cancer is so preventable when they get rid of the polyps, and so curable when they catch it early, and devastatingly awful when they catch it late, he’s gotta get it done. I just make an appointment for my husband when it’s time for his misery.
This has been sitting in my pantry for a while but I hadn’t opened it. I just tried it and it’s delicious! I’m a fan of their other stocks but hadn’t tried the onion one previously. Great for sipping.

I have tried their other ones but never knew they had sautéed onion too. We have noticed they had low salt and regular—H of course prefers full salt!
Costco seems to have switched to low salt Better than Bullion but local grocer has full salt in smaller jars.
Good luck with the prep today. Mine seems like it’s gone really well and I’m so relieved! Off to the doc, where I’m sure they’ll tell me how the prep actually went…
Congrats to those who got their colonoscopy over with today! ![]()
It went great. Fast, easy procedure. Good prep, and no polyps. Some diverticulosis and moderate internal hemorrhoids, but neither of those things give me much trouble. I’m on the 10 year plan, woohoo!
I was on fentanyl / versed and while I was a little bit out of it, I was awake and aware for the whole procedure. That surprised me since my spouse at the same doc was conked out HARD, like barely able to stay awake for hours afterward. But for my spouse’s procedure, apparently they said “you’re awfully chatty, are you feeling drowsy yet?” and then gave more drugs.
I watched my entire procedure on the screen, and listened to the staff’s whole conversation LOL. There were times I felt some weird pressure, but the only time I was uncomfortable enough to think about speaking up was at the very end and it must have been when they were removing the scope. I know that I was unphased throughout, so
.
Afterward they said everyone responds a little differently and I could definitely get more drugs next time if I want. But it was totally fine with me, I just didn’t expect to be as alert.
I’m now full of hashbrowns and off to enjoy a lovely nap in the sunshine!
I keep hoping that over time the medical world will find ways to make colonoscopy/prep easier… if not for my generation, maybe for my kids. But maybe it will not be possible.
I’m so glad that everything went well for you. Hoping mine goes half as well. Hash browns, yum! I’m starving, and going through the Whole Foods hot buffet getting things for my husband did NOT help. Hard to stay satisfied with clear liquids!
Excellent that the prep was good, and no polyps!
You might tell your doctor you want to have a “safe word”. It’s guaranteed to get a smile.
I’m guessing they’ve heard it all before, and just want me to shuddup and behave.
You’d be surprised. They usually haven’t heard that one, and I’ve never had a doctor or tech that’s heard this one:
A patient has a crush on their proctologist, and keeps returning for multiple examinations. Eventually the doctor tells the patient they’ve had enough, there’s nothing physically wrong with the patient, and that they need to stop coming in, to which the patient replies: “Doctor, you don’t understand. There’s something seriously wrong in there, please give me one more examination”. The doctor relents, pulls out their proctoscope, commences an exam, and says “Oh, I see what the problem is and can see why your in pain. There’s a rose in there”, to which the patient replies: “read the card; read the card!”
I love joking around with doctors, probably because it helps relieve the anxiety surrounding medical issues.
I had a great ad lib one time during a pre-op consultation meeting for an outpatient procedure. I asked how soon I could return to my normal exercise routine and the doctor told me a day or two would be ok, just don’t lift anything over 20 pounds. Without missing a beat I asked “so what do I do when I need to pee?”
He loved it.
I’m not anxious at all about medical issues, probably should be, though. I don’t know this lady, so I’m definitely not going to joke with her.
lol. Did you hear the frog one?
No, please tell
It is a stupid elementary school kinda joke. It goes something like this. A guy comes to a proctologist complaining, “I went swimming in a pond, and I think a frog got stuck up in my butt! I can hear him croaking! Can you get him out?” The proctologist, who has seen it all, begins the exam. Takes a look and goes, “Whoa, sir, it isn’t a frog! You’ve got a brick in there!” To which the guy responds calmly, “Oh, sure! That’s where the darn frog hides - behind that brick!”
Hope the prep went well. Good luck today!
