Are you thinking of the Air Force Academy? That’s not located in Fort Collins; it’s just north of Colorado Springs and the campus is less than ten miles from my house.

Yeah, I’ve heard about Colorado’s fiscal problems as they relate to the state funded university system. Sounds like Ft. Collins is a happening place, which has made quite an impression on many. Keep that input comming! Thanks

Patti,

Have your daughter call the admissions rep for your area directly–University of Denver is not as score driven as most schools and relies heavily on interviews and recommendations. I’m sure the admissions rep would give her an honest answer as to whether she should apply.

has your daughter taken the ACT as well? Sometimes kids do markedly better on it than on the SAT although my sons did about the same.

Good idea-thanks. She took the ACT and did about the same also.

It’s been a few years since we’ve lived in Colorado…so keep this in mind. My brother-in-law rec’d his undergraduate at CSU and went on to law school at Stanford. He and my husband were avid skiers and as I recall Mines, CU and CSU kids usually hit Estes Park and Winter Park on the weekends. I believe there really isn’t a significant difference in the drive to Estes Park from all three universities. Correct me if I am remembering incorrectly Coloradomom.

All are solid schools, as is DU…and socratic describes the differences between FC and Boulder well…Boulder is definitely the more ‘granola’ of the two. Always has been, always will be. Both are lovely towns though. My only difficulty was being a Texan living in Colorado. They aren’t really crazy about us there…hehe.

Some more great insight, Idmom06. Thanks!

ldmom – try being a former californian in colorado :(
