Columbia Class of 2020 ED Applicant Thread

@dr0wning the thought of that is even scarier than knowing our fate is already decided. And that we have to wait 18.5 hours to find out!

Columbia Class of 2019 here:

Good luck to all ED’ers! No matter what happens, don’t fret – it’ll all turn out okay.

Also, if anyone has any questions about Columbia + admissions, feel free to ask!

@PilotKhyle that is literally so weird you suggested NyQuil because I have been starting to get a bit sick so I took some and then came back and checked the thread and it’s like you predicted my actions or something wow

@dr0wning lol I’m not even gonna lie I have probably seen every acceptance reaction on YouTube and I’ve seen that short film already and the documentary ivy dreams or whatever it’s called…I’m high key crazy

@969028 @BrynMawr61 think happy thoughts  I’m going to watch the “welcome, columbia CO 2020!” video again because it hits me right in the feels
I’ve never heard of Ivy Dreams…should I watch it or will it make me more sad when I get rejected :-<

I feel calm yet I’m internally screaming. I’m still telling myself I didn’t get in for preparation

@dr0wning not sure if that was the exact name but it shouldn’t make you feel bad or anything. It’s extremely outdated anyways and the person in it who applied to Columbia…honestly I had secondhand embarrassment when I found out what happened

I’m preparing for rejection. If I get in then I don’t care how I react. LOL!!!

@BrynMawr61 I try to do that but secretly I’m really optimistic. So even though I try to prepare myself for rejection, it doesn’t work :frowning: lol I do this for tests too

  1. I know it doesn't matter but how do I check the Ed agreement thing?
  2. Does going to private school give you that much of a leg up over someone going to public? If it's a matter of courseload, there's many publics that can outclass most privates.

OMG SAME! @dr0wning I keep saying to myself “listen chances are very slim and it’s likely you didn’t get in.” And I try to accept it but at the same time I am so optimistic and picture reading “congratulations” on my computer screen. ITS SO BAD. :-S

I’m already crying haha

It is now officially decision day. Mixed feels. Cannot sleep. Head spinning. Stomach aching. Feels hitting hard.

I’m going to try to get some sleep but last update of the night: “18 hours.” Everyone try to relax

@alpha525 It’s more than that…It has a lot to do with the brand name. Great prep schools (not just normal privates) have extremely good reputations and they are valued greatly by colleges. Lawrenceville (one of the best boarding schools in the country) sent 14 kids to Columbia last year, and they had approximately 200 kids in their senior class.

How many athletes do u guys think are recruited ED each year?

So unfairrrrrrr omgggggggg

Do you guys think it will help or hurt that I’m from a public school in a small town in Arizona

I’m analyzing all this way too much :frowning:

@soph1112 Since around 600 are admitted each year, I’d say 600 of those are athletes
