i was just joking, hehe. I wanted to see how people would react!
I WISH i got in!!!

never knew columbia was as caprious as MIT and those top ones… Does this happen every year? I’m shivering to death now.

I think you meant capricious…

And yes, Columbia adimissions, like many other Ivies, are quite competive (and many times “random”, if you can define that), even though I don’t think capricious is the right word to use, here are some stats from 2002:

Harvard: 19,069 Applied, 11% Accepted
Yale: 15,466 Applied, 8% Accepted
Princeton: 14521 Applied, 11% Accepted

Columbia College: 14129 Applied 12% Accepted
MIT: 10644 Applied 16% Accepted

And STOP reviving old thread like this (I guess for tact), just start a new one.

Accepted - College

Rank - 8/625
SAT - 1270, ACT - 29
SAT II - Writing: 670, Bio-M: 710, IIC: 750

ECs- standard clubs, but lots of community service, TONS of tutoring - specifically in math
Essay - I thought it was really good
Recs - Never read because I waived right; gc never told me how they were

Delfire, I think you meant competitive. ;)

LoL, I think I just got pwned at my own game.

Touch

CC '08 RD

As you can see, I was a pretty “average” Comunbia applicant.

I did apply for finaid & they were very generous.

So far, my experience has been exceptional - I’m actually using my brain!

It almost felt like being in a lottery getting in here - I KNOW how lucky I am.

Hopefully, with some luck and well thought out answers to those innocent looking app questions, I’ll see you here!

I think starting a new thread for this year’s applications would be a better idea.
