I don’t think we will hear anything over the weekend. There might be less applicants this year so maybe admissions will take that into account when they review our apps so don’t worry about your GPA. Has anyone spoke to the admissions office recently?

Nope, just general facts (resources/majors/core curriculum/financial aid…) about GS which are publicly available. However, they do emphasize they took a holistic approach in considering admissions and how the experiences can uniquely contribute to Columbia.

Has anyone been reached out for an interview? I just realized october 1 is like 3 days away and no one has mentioned if they were reached out for an interview. Are they even doing interviews this year?
My portal is still the same; I have a feeling that what you said about there not being many applicants for this cycle is true. Also, I believe when interviews are conducted, it’s always at least a week out from the decision date that they ask to schedule one, so I’m not sure what’s happening, lol
Gut instinct is they have already made the decisions. I was told they only interview if they are on the fence.
I have a feeling the acceptance rate will be really high or low this year.

Oops, that’s my bad; I meant before the decision date, not after, but I agree with you 100 percent that decisions have probably already been set in stone for a while now. However, I’m hoping the acceptance rate is higher rather than lower, but we will know soon. I wish everyone the best of luck!

I agree - but my doubt is why they take so long to review applications if not a lot people applied.
I think they release later rather than sooner. All of the previous threads they release the decision closer to oct 1st if not on it. So they may be done with reviews but just haven’t told us.

Well I think if nobody on this thread has seen a change in their portal maybe they are just taking more time to review the applications rather than updating the portals. I still think there is a smaller applicant pool this cycle. But yeah I agree the decisions are probably already made. I’m just surprised nobody was reached out to regarding interviews or just any general questions from admissions.
What makes you guys think that the Applicant pool is small this time around. Is the spring African pool typically smaller?
We are two days away from receiving the results at the most. Very anxious.

I think the spring might be a smaller applicant pool. And we think it’s even smaller this year because of Columbias overall reputation some people might not want to apply. Also they had an issue with not providing enough financial aid to GS students. But they recently just announced like this week they would start investing more financial aid for GS students. So maybe they received less applicants this year and it led to this decision to receive more applicants in later cycles.

I was told about the same ratio wise by admission official. They encourage you to apply earlier for things like housing and financial aid.
