Columbia Transfer Fall 2010

UGH wait listed… does anyone know how short this “short waiting list” is?!

Probably not short at all. There are six of us just on this forum and probably a hell of a lot more not. It’s a nice way of saying “sorry, you looked decent, but others were better”.

Boo… yeah and it’s probably going to be like 1 or 2 people getting off it if any. This sucks.

Nah judging by last years, probably none.

Did anyone receive their packages as yet?

Accepted by Fu.

When I apply for Fu, I randomly choose a major. When I attend columbia next semester,
am I be assigned to the major I choose on application part 1? Thanks everybody!

i’m actually wondering about that too

I think you should email the dean. I had a few questions and he immediately replied.
Even though it was like a Friday night there.

Do you guys have any idea where you want to live?

accepted!
I think my financial aid will not be that great thou…

cost of attending is too much

Accepted! Look at my other posts if you want to see stats.

I can’t decide if I want to transfer, it seems like such a hard thing to do. I LOVE COLUMBIA THOUGH and it was my first choice during the first go-round. Could other girls who are thinking of transferring to Columbia private message me please? I want to see who the potential people for rooming would be.

Actually I’ll just post them here because I remember how annoying it was when I couldn’t find people’s when I was doing my transfer apps haha.

SATS: 2330
SAT IIs: 780, 760
APs: 8 exams all 5’s

Also accepted at Brown, Penn, and BC for transfer.

hey Jade,

would you mind sharing which school you got into for each? and what major?

i.e. Columbia College? Penn CAS?

Thanks! :D

accepted and will probably attend.

Do we have a fb-group?

Most other colleges have one :/

I was waitlisted too.

Is there anything we can do to add to our application? The decision didn’t say anything about writing a letter or anything like that.

Did any of the acceptees get a letter [not the acceptance package] from the director of transfer admissions? It basically praises you…

Anyone?

Yup, I did too.

I need to decide whether I will go to brown or penn!! can anyone help me PLEASE??

Transferring from: Swarthmore College
Accepted: Columbia, Brown, Wesleyan, UPenn
Possible majors: History, Sociology

Brown Pros: I love the campus, I want a “hippie” and liberal school
Brown Cons: I want to get into a good grad school, not academic enough

Columbia Pros: Great reputation, known for being super intellectual
Columbia Cons: I want a college town (I live in ny also), too many preppies?

I only have a week to decide so please let me know your opinions!!! I want to know if my stereotyping is totally off and which school has better departments for my majors.

** I actually don’t care if there’s a core or not. I’m more concerned about the departments and the types of people at the schools
lilygee is online now

guys…is it better to transfer after a year or after 2 years?

my grades in HS are awful. definitely no the best/stellar applicant…

the only hook i have is being an URM…

i’ll be back w/ more qs later.

lilygee-I’d go to Columbia. I for one thought Columbia’s campus is pretty neat and beautiful. Sure it might be small, but I think its a really nice place lol. IT’S COLUMBIA!

I envy you, I wish I could be stuck between choosing Brown vs Columbia…
