I must say that I’m a bit dumbfounded I was rejected. I didn’t necessarily think I’d be accepted, but at least deferred. I guess I did not fully comprehend what it takes to be acceptable.

hook: essay focused on my experiences being chicano (mexican-american), the son of an immigrant, and trans man. i applied as a creative writing major so I’m sure my essay (which I was VERY proud of) factored in heavily.

personal stuff: I’m indian lol, applied to Fu SEAS for computer science, met my regional admissions officer at multiple events and had great conversations, never had an interview, solid essays.
Wow, I’m shocked in a multitude of ways. I got deferred – but not giving hope up yet. Still in the race.

Also guys I had a 1420 SAT and 4.2 weighted GPA and I got in so for anyone applying to other schools or waiting to find out in the RD round, don’t beat yourself up over your scores. You have a lot of other things going for you!

@surreal22 i feel like the biggest thing I was worried about was my SAT(1430) and it was a huge relief that that wasn’t a big detriment to my application
