@avkhatri101
I think your chances are Ok – better than most – though definitely impacted by financial aid as Columbia is not need-blind for internationals.
I suggest applying to places like Amherst College where they’re need-blind for internationals and you’ll have the opportunity to perform tons of research at nearby UMass Amherst or even at Amherst College itself. Alternatives include Cornell, Brown, UPenn – again, I don’t think they’re need-blind for internationals but doesn’t hurt to try. Lastly, I hope you’re also applying to strong public universities with stellar research programs like UMichigan/UIUC/UC Berkeley/UMinnesota as you’re nearly guaranteed acceptances in many of those places given your strong profile.
Hello! I’m wondering if anyone knows whether I can just send in my college transcript directly to Columbia, or if I have to send in my transcript through the Common App Transfer processing center? Thank you!
@badaro8383 If you already sent one to Common App processing center, I would still recommend sending another one directly to university just in case.
Hey does anybody know if Columbia emails us once our application materials have all been sent in? I already submitted my app and pretty much everything else, but the portal doesn’t come with a checklist.
Does anyone else have trouble putting paragraph breaks in their common app?
they said that they are aware of the issue!
is it fine if they havent received my transcript yet?
I sent it directly to columbia via my school’s registrar; do I need to send one to the Common App Processing Center?
Has anyone else not received a portal email? I submitted early yesterday
@Koreanjesus62 your school can send directly to Columbia you do not have to go thru common app
@Koreanjesus62 @coolblue262 @badaro8383 @transferszn I submitted my application a couple days ago and just I just sent my transcripts to the schools I’m applying to via their respective school website and just entered the addresses for each school. I applied to both Barnard and Columbia and sent transcripts to them at the same time, and my checklist on Barnard’s page said that they have been recieved, so I think it’s safe to assume that they have also been recieved across the street at Columbia hahaha! I think (hope) that a checklist will pop up on Columbia’s status page soon, but I also think you can call admissions and provide your Columbia ID and they can track your materials for you. Also I just got my Columbia email this morning, but I got my Barnard email the day I submitted lol, so I think anything Columbia related takes a couple days, so don’t worry!
Good luck to everyone applying !
I haven’t gotten it yet either!
Don’t panic guys. I called Columbia the other day and they told me that it may take up to a week to receive a confirmation email.
has anyone else not received a portal email?
How much would the mid term report matter?
I reached out to the admissions office, and they said that the application deadline was extended till march 8th. The application tracking thing will come out soon.
I just called the office of admissions to try and confirm whether or not my application update had been received. I submitted it through the admissions portal on February 13, and subsequently received an email stating I would be notified when my application was updated. As it has been almost one month and I have not received a confirmation email, I called to check in. I was promptly told that I would not receive confirmation… even though I had received an email telling me I would! Just a heads up– I was told the office does not track transfer application updates!
Also, I submitted my CommonApp on February 3, and have had access to the portal for about a month now!
Hey guys whats up? I’m applying to Columbia as well for a junior transfer in fall 2019 from the University of Toronto for Computer Science. My GPA is 4.0, SAT is 1470, have released multiple games on the Play Store, am a Pearson Scholar, an established author, and have launched a startup. What are my chances?
Hey guys!! I was really frustrated at the CA paragraph formatting. For those of you who submitted and looked at the pdf version, did all your essays become one giant block of paragraph text? I submitted Columbia’s essay responses and previewed and could not find a way to have it show certain sentences on a new line. But I had to turn it in regardless because it was the deadline.
Did any of you guys have problem with this? If you guys didn’t, how did you get the paragraph formatting to work?
Thank you so much!
@Panda_juice I had the same problem: everything into a huge paragraph. I contacted Common Application and they said that everything is tightened to save space. They also said that the colleges receive a different version, not the one that we see as PDF.
