Find smth else to do for now to keep yourself busy. The less you think about it the better. I’ve been studying for the LSAT on Khan Academy (I’m not even going into law LMAO). I learned some LSAT formal logic in discrete math and it seems interesting so why not.

how long did it take for them to respond? I send a few days ago (friday) and haven’t gotten a response or confirmation for my additional updates

Honestly, I think it is rolling as in they do not review the whole cohort. They simply review based on what they are missing. Online sources are saying they are about halfway done with sending offers to the waitlist but I am not sure how true this is.
Where’d you get that information from? No one besides the admissions officers knows exact details about the waitlist. Plus, this year’s yield is expected to not be the best.
I got this information from a post on social media. Yes, the yield is probably not as high as other years and also Columbia is suspending some of their current students. I suspect there has been movement simply from the fact that it is already late May.

Well no one’s heard a thing from Columbia since they accepted a few engineering students on the 10th and 11th. I don’t think there was much movement or else someone would have picked it up. Also, what does it mean if students get suspended and expelled? Will Columbia accept more students to replace those who were suspended and expelled?

I wouldn’t think the suspended/expelled students would increase the freshman class size bc they’re all incoming students, but the fact that the protests are/were happening are going to deter a lot of people from accepting their offers from the waitlist

Last year around sometime in june (june 6-11), they sent a note to WL saying class is filled (saw this on cc). I think we wait until that note comes our way. In the meantime, I tell my D24 to remember that there are many great paths to success. Columbia is one but the other she is committed to is also a great path. This week is graduation - she is the commencement speaker and her message is exactly this. I want her to get off the WL because it is her dream, but I know her path is bright. From what I read here from you, I know yours are too.

Where are you guys committed right now?
Apparently, someone’s school counselor talked to a Columbia admission representative recently, and they said the class was full. Any further waitlist movement is unlikely. It is best to just move on.

I’m not sure about this because I got an email response from them on Monday saying they would note my application with an update I had, so it seemed like they weren’t done
This is what it is like for most of the elite schools where the power dynamic is in their favor. Nothing about this process is designed with the benefit of the prospective student in mind. The entire ED process is in their favor, and the waitlist is also entirely in their favor – a way to assue they end up with the optimal size class no matter what, while also improving their acceptance stats since WL admits aren’t included in their stat. It’s not in their interest to be transparent about their WL – they don’t want their peers knowing what’s going on. And they often linger until they are absolutely certain they have their final class size locked.
It’s really better to psychologically just move on, stop checking or thinking about it, love the school you have committed to. Then in the unlikely event you get off the list, great surprise.

I just called and says hours are 9-5 est and the office is currently closed. It was 10 am set
I don’t think they are actively reviewing any applications at this point. You could try calling later in the afternoon.
