Come to the conclusion that grades and hard work don't mean a thing

pausdeclaud…thats not a bad deal…

if you dont mind me asking how much was that in grants only?

im pretty sure if your mom made less than 40,000 you would have gotten significantly more grant money

also remember if you earned any income that factors in also

even taking a few community college classes can cut costs down by a lot
doing some of your basic classes during a couple summers at community college is the best route…that way you dont have to give up being at UT and you graduate a bit early

I received $2540 in grants.
My mom earns $43,250, that’s what we have documented on the SAR. I did not earn any income as I have never had a job. I have taken classes at my local college since the summer of my Junior year and have also been in Dual Enrollment since my Sophomore year. I have about 15 hours currently, and it should be at around 25 hours when I graduate.
I am pretty sure that my mom will qualify for the $14,000, but my point is that why do they advertise being able to significantly help families whose income is $60,000 or less.

my dad makes about…36,000 on average and sometimes less
i have a little brother that is disabled and my mom doesnt work
i worked but i only made around 2-3k a year.i recently quit working altogether this year

i have always gotten 5500 in grants alone.

i’d call 7500 significant…considering that tuition is 10-12k

i’d think that people who more money get NO help…so just take what you can get lol

taking cc classes early means
1.you can stretch out your harder upper division classes so you can make better grades (which might get you merit based scholarships)
2.you can graduate early and save money on living expenses

i mean with 25 credits already straight out of high school you’re pretty much set…if you give up a couple of your summers. you can graduate early very easily…given that you don’t end up changing majors and if you follow your degree plan religiously

My bad… I got in total $4540 in grants and scholarships for one year…
so yeah… I wish that I had gotten $7500. Lol.

oh wait…i just looked at my dads tax return from last year he only made 29,789!
add that to my part time job…like 3k
it still only like 33k

no wonder i always get so much $$ from grants

Lol. Looks like we both made a mistake, but yeah. I guess all we can do is apply for outside scholarships and hope for the best! :)

I wish you luck!

Does anyone have a clue when my financial aid page will be updated if I submitted FAFSA corrections about two to three weeks ago?

Whaddaya complainin’ about? I’m oos and was offered loans only! Top 5%, 32 ACT composite score, loads of ECs, blah, blah, blah. Luckily, my parents have enough in my 529 to pay for four years. I’m so glad I don’t have to take out $100K+ worth of loans to get my first job at average $45K/year…
