Comfortable shoes for women?

Another fan of eccos here. I also love thr cole haun air jordans heels- very comfortable. I used to get Clarks/ privo for comfort but have switched to eccos. Son loves eccos, so I thought I would try them.

I have a weird problem wearing pump type shoes, with heels or without. On my right foot, my ankle bone (that knob that sticks out, what the hell is it called?) is lower than on my left foot so the edge of the shoe cuts into it. So, I have to wear either very low edged shoes or ankle boots, nothing in between. Anybody else have this deformity, er problem?

I love BORN shoes. I watch for a sale or a pair at TJ Maxx or Marshalls. Sometimes at the end of the year Dillards has them marked way down. Comfortable does not say enough. I have never worn out a pair.

I have only bought their flats, and had no idea they had boots and heels until I looked for their website. The shoes look even more gorgeous on their wonderful website. Bornshoes.com

OP, check out Naot shoes on Zappos…pricey but comfy.
I really like Clarks too.

worknprogress, I just got new Danskos this week too. They are wonderful but now my jeans are too short:( Guess now I have a reason to buy some new jeans:)
Did you know Dansko makes a boot style? Saw them at REI this weekend. I think they’re on Zappos too.

prj…I have over 10 pairs of black flat or low heel shoes in my closet. It’s my thing. But I love those shoes you posted and they’re on sale…so how can I resist? Kitten heels…comfortable…very cool.
Again, CC is not good for my budget.
However, I must report that I went to Nordstroms Rack on Monday. BAD day to shop at that place. Everything was a mess and picked out from the weekend. I walked out with NOTHING…a first I think (some shoes and boots were OK but I didn’t LOVE them). And I found out that my legs are not skinny enough for skinny jeans…at least the ones they had on the racks. Bad day…depressing… :(

In general I find anything Clarks makes is not only comfortable but long wearing too. I wear their shoes almost exclusively, and I am NOT a shoe person. At all. It’s sneakers, flip flops and my Clarks.

The solution is simple. buy shoes that look like your feet. The basic problem is that most women’s shoes are not shaped like the human foot. The less the shoe is shaped like your feet the more it’s going to hurt.

WNP, the chanels are size 7, I think, but the heel needs to be fixed where it speared the wood deck.

I generally buy a half size larger on any shoe that could be less comfortable (you know the dress shoes for the black tie event) which also helps. This was the solution of an old friend. She said who cares if they’re falling off?

Well, I am out of luck! I am a 7 1/2 and in last two years, I have purchased shoes that are size 8. I wasn’t really thinking of borrowing your shoes, but I think we would have been attained special status on CC.

I have a pair of Anne Klein black leather flats that are very soft and comfortable for moderate city walking, up to a mile or two at a stretch. I think they’d be fine for an office job but I don’t think they’re available anymore (think the style name was Perez). There seem to be a lot of flats in stores like Nordstrom and Lord and Taylor under $100 that are comfortable enough for everyday wear but not for heavy-duty walking. I know the Walking Company has a fairly wide variety of brands (they seem to be cutting back on Mephistos) though but I find them all much more expensive and often a little clunky looking.

OP, If you are in or near NYC as your screen name suggests, might try those try great upper West Side shoe stores, Harrys and TipTop.

Thank you all for the suggestions! I have been looking at the suggested brands, mostly on Zappos, and I love some of the styles, but I have not yet found the right combination of a style I like, my size, and black (the color I need right now). Will continue looking. I am glad to have so many recommendations!

I can’t stand to shop for anything in stores - even have groceries delivered sometimes.

Oh, a cautionary note on Danskos. I have heard for years how wonderfully comfortable they are, and I bought a pair a couple of years ago in one of their stores. Unfortunately, I found them extremely uncomfortable - not for my feet, but for my knees. This has never happened with anything else, and I don’t usually have knee problems. I couldn’t stand walking in them. I gave them to a then-14-yo girl down the street, and she was absolutely thrilled to have them. So all’s well.

Go to The Walking Company. There are all sorts of comfortable, stylish shoes there.

For flats that come in various widths (for a more precise fit and therefore better comfort), you might also check out (in order of price):
