Commercials That are absurd

It’s Priceline. Though I usually can remember the commercial but not what the commercial is for. Shatner must be a good pitchman if I can actually recall what he’s pitching.

I actually love that commercial. I die laughing every single time. His face looks so incredibly earnest, all the while he is making those funny verbal reactions to the plays.

Not a tv ad, but here in the NY area on the radio they have ads for this charity, kars4kids (soliciting people to donate cars in return for a tax writeoff)…the ads they have been running feature this obnoxious kid singing this idiotic jingle them some putz with an even more cloying voice…when I hear the start of the commercial, I turn the radio sound off, it is that bad. Put it this way, it is the last charity I would donate to, ick. Almost as annoying as that kid that used to do the Oscar Mayer commercials back in the 80’s (Mason something, obnoxious red headed kid, wonder what happened to him?).

Hopefully during the Superbowl they actually will have some funny ads, though in recent years been pretty dismal (though I did love the MacGuyver ad a couple of years ago)

Looks like he ate a few too many of those Oscar Mayers.

Have to say that the ad discussed above re to cell phone - woman watering plants who is nasty to husband - we thought that was a great commercial - funny, filled with all kinds of interesting nuances, superb acting, emotionality. It ran a long time.

Saw a new ED commercial yesterday that is catering to a younger and MARRIED audience - they did a pan in to the wedding rings while they were cuddling at the top of a ferris wheel.
Previous ads seemed to emphasize the older man and younger babe. Both of the new actors were 30-40 range.

Gee, what with all the ads for ED one would think the problem is pandemic. I just wonder…how long has this been such an issue! Also, one has to consider the possibilty that the causes might be psychosomatic rather than purely somatic, which, of course, begs the question of emasculation of the American male. Can it be??

Ladies…what have you to say for yourselves? Has the battle of the sexes finally come to this and are we males doomed to whimpydom? lol

Agree with parent1986, the ‘complaining wife’ cell phone ad gives me a good natured laugh. Look, in pop media humor someone often has to be the foil. I don’t think any of the ads are cruel to men. In fact, in the cell phone ad it’s the wife’s expression that tells us she knows she going to have a hard time getting her foot out of her mouth.

musicprnt–gee thanks, now that kars4kids jingle is stuck in my head again. Hands down the most annoying radio commercial ever. And yes, it’s made me memorize they’re stupid phone number, and no, I will never, ever have any dealings with them, just on general principle!

The best ED ad is the one with Howlin Wolf’s Smokestack Lightning playing while the guy drives (home) and has to unload his team of horses to pull him pick-up out of the mud. How much action is there going to be by the time he arrives and has to unload, feed and clean up two horses?

The Gordon Ramsay ad where he yells at somebody is terrible…

When that ad comes on…time for the remote…

I don’t get Gordon Ramsay’s appeal…

That commercial acts as a warning to me about how not to treat my husband. Somtimes in the details of life I can be nastier than I would like, so that commercial hit home for me.

I wish the ED commercials would go away. THey are out of control during NASCAR. They aren’t even subtle anymore. Sooooo offensive.

There is something about the one where the husband is dipping his kids feet in some material to get socks that stay on. The wife coming home reminds me of myself, and when he says “we are sick of it” and the kid repeats it makes me laugh. I think its the tone and expression of the actors that gets me.
all time favorite, the geico commercial with squirrels congratualting each other after causing an accident. I really dont like any ads for ED, kotex, depends etc… guess I am old fashioned.

OMG, they have that commercial up here in New England too! I can’t turn the radio off fast enough!

I do hate the Nationwide commercials! Immediately muting. What’s with a guy wearing a dialed, corded phone? Has he not seen all the cell phone commercials?

S2 watches a lot of Canadian hockey channels and says the ED commercials there are more explicit and quite hilarious. Surprising, eh?

OMG! You have Kars4kids, too? I was gonna mention that earlier but didn’t think anyone would know what I was talking about. (I’m in the Baltimore market.)

Much to my dismay, I can sing the song. :(

Here is one that makes me laugh out loud . Its a german commercial…a dad and his son in the supermarket

[Crying Condom Ad - Video](http://www.metacafe.com/watch/1442/crying_condom_ad/)

^^^ Ha Ha Ha!!!

We have the Kars4Kids ads here in Massachusetts too, and they are awful.

Hate: Any jewelry ads, especially Jared and Kay, although the Jared ad with the crossword puzzle clue is kind of cute. Any ED ads. Ads by local businesses Bob’s Discount Furniture and Bernie and Phyl’s (also furniture). The Nationwide jingle. The talking babies. Any commercial where the husband is portrayed as a hapless idiot. Any commercial where the long-suffering husband has to wait outside while the wife is trying on clothes. Most of the commercials with “Peggy”.

Love: The Mayhem guy. The “Peggy” commercial with Patrick Kane in an airport. :)

If you’re talking about 1-800-Kars4Kids, they’re in the Chicago area too.

I can’t stand the commercial with the four guys with increasing size hats and moustaches - don’t remember what it’s for since I always mute it.

Was Mason Reese in Oscar Meyer commercials? I thought he was in devilled ham or donut commercials. Thisis the kid I thik of inthe Oscar Meyer commercials. Dont know his name though [1973 Oscar Mayer Bologna Commercial - YouTube](<a href=“- YouTube”>- YouTube)
