Yeah, I got it this morning, and while I appreciate their taking responsibility, it doesn’t excuse the headache they’ve created in my office or the added stress to the poor high school kids. If their version wasn’t ready, they should have tested it in beta mode for one extra year instead of putting everyone through so much.
Additionally, they aggressively asked colleges to become CommonApp exclusive, and they seem surprised that applications have soared. What, you mean they hadn’t realized that when colleges used Universal Application and their own institutional application in addition to CA, there were students who used these other applications, that they’d ALL be directed to the Common App this year, and would thus flood them if they weren’t ready for the great increase? Because let us be serious: the very big application period starts in 2 weeks. C4 has been “overloaded” BEFORE the real test of strength, the November-December period!
(And it’s not even better. Some features need to be altered - like number of classes per year, which does not accomodate many types of schedules, etc)
C4 wasn’t ready to launch, period. And now colleges and students are paying for their hubris.
Just my two cents.

Nobody is going to disagree with your $.02. I do not understand the rush to go live with C4 (or the health care enrollment for that matter), without proper beta and load testing. Hopefully some of these people responsible will be taken to task. Apparently there is a congressional committee hearing on the health care enrollment debacle (then again who is going to chair the committee on the congressional debacle)

Totally incompetent software developers should be fired. FUBAR!

oh my god

can’t believe it

Does anyone know if Vanderbilt has extended the deadline?

I don’t see how CA can handle the upcoming early action submissions. Their responses to issues are canned, recycled from their relatively useless help. I can only hope that colleges realize that students and schools have done their part on time, even if documents don’t show up as expected through Common App.

Yeah I have started submitting and it takes a while. Don’t wait until the last minute.
