common app? what?!

It’s generally been assumed that since the Common App has been approved, it will be in use as soon as possible – which is just not a valid assumption. More than likely, the website in question made the same assumption.

http://uncommonapplication07-08.blogspot.com/2006/12/truth-about-common-application.html

Look at the second and third paragraphs from the bottom, which are statements made by Michael Behnke and John Boyer, Vice President and Deans of Admissions, respectively:

That means that more than likely, the Common App will be unavailable for the 2007-2008 school year.

Edit:

Hmm. Oddly enough, the website used for last year’s admission was uncommonapplication07-08blogspot.com. Would that mean that the upcoming application process is '08-09? I would assume that the upcoming application process would be '07-08, since it starts in '07 and ends in '08, but Chicago’s always been known for thinking a bit differently…

Double Edit:

http://uncommonapplication07-08.blogspot.com/2006_05_01_archive.html

Well, it looks as if the Common App could be used next year. As in the statement used above, I suppose it depends on “when systems can be modified”. I’ve heard the the Common App is making a lot of adjustments to the system for Chicago, but I would think that they would be able to finish said implementations before October.
