@Panthera: yes you may also put the awards earned with your team: 1, b/c, logically you were also part of the team and 2, b/c i think the adcoms would like to see from time to time some team work - it may also indicate that you can adapt and cooperate with your mates. Hope it helps:)

oh and philoglossia, I personaly think it’s work. The application doesn’t mention that YOU must keep the money earned or spend them with yourself. I think it’s a lovely gesture to donate it to the school :).

Is anybody in the SSL lab of MIT? I want to ask some question ,thank you

Doesn’t have to do with common app, but w/e: When do colleges usually allow us to start on our Fall 2009 admission applications?

stonecutter: i haven’t looked at every school’s website, but most are putting up their supplements when the entire common app opens on july 1. this suggests to me you can register with particular schools in july.

the only non-common app school i know is columbia. they are opening on september 1.

The other non-common app schools on my list include MIT and UMich.

A question about the fee waiver-
How do you go about getting the fee waiver for the Common App,
and do they waive it automatically for all schools that you send your application to, or do you need to fill out the form multiple times for each school and send it to them?
I’m guessing the NACAC application is the one for the fee waiver, but I want to make sure with you guys.

And on that note, if you’re waiving all the fees, and say you apply to 10 schools, will all the schools end up knowing that you waived 10 feels meaning that you applied to 10 schools (wondering about this because wouldn’t this make some schools think that you’re not dedicated to them?)

michigan will probably open extremely early. the essay questions are already out.

So, just to clarify, if we have teachers fill out reccomendations online, they only have to do it once, regardless of how many schools we apply to, right?

Bump, I wanna know the answer to PhoenixStar’s question, too

Wait, since when did teachers fill out recommendations online? I thought people mailed in their recs along with the transcript and stuff…

No, they’re not filled out online. Print them out, have them type up a letter and fill out the form, and then have them mail it. And yes, just one main letter, but they make copies of it for each of the schools and then submit it.

i will most likely be a national merit semifinalist bc im from ca and my score is 224. i wanna submit my application early though…like by the end of summer. what should i put for national merit for awards?

tennisboy, I highly recommend that you wait until later to send your application, because in that time your essay will probably change, and because you might change your college list, and because colleges won’t see what classes you’re taking in senior year.

Don’t put any award that you haven’t won.

Zester: Contact the CB. And they may reduce it 100% or partially for you. And you only have to do the form ONCE and press send online. And, no the schools won’t know that you applied to 10 places.

Tennisboy: Don’t put it down until you get it. Wait until you get it to put it down (especially considering that you have so much time until you have to submit!). Especially with some high profile awards like national merit.

how good are my chances of admission for UPENN(WHARTON) EARLY DECISION?

Many, many colleges and universities accept an application called the Common App. The great thing about it is that if all of your schools accept it, you can complete one application online and just submit that to each of the colleges. Go to [The Common Application Online](http://www.commonapp.org) and register (I think you have to wait, though).

For the awards section, what if you were on a team that won the same award in different years, and different ranks?

For example, FIRST Robotics: Team was #1 in 2007, but #3 in 2008
CT Science Olympiad: Team was #2 in 2007, but #3 in 2008

Do you just put it twice in the same box??

Thanks!
