Question (not sure if it’s been answered):

I took Math II or IIC. What is the difference?

There’s no difference. The CollegeBoard changed it from IIC to II in 2005.

I took it last year, so I should mark II, then. Thanks.

Hey guys I’ve got another question…

I’m filling out the PDF printed version (hard copy) of the common app and am getting confused with all the blanks I’m coming across. Many of these are simply N/A, but should I write N/A or leave it blank?

Put N/A so that they know that you didn’t just forget it. There are some parts where they won’t let you put N/A once you do a checkup at the end to make sure everything is complete, and that’s okay.

I saved my activity essay, went back, and it was gone. It was beautiful. [bangs head off wall]

I should not trust the Common App.

Wait,
What if your big essay is about an activity, like your #1 EC, and how its changed you, etc?
Would you then just write about the activity in plain form under the activities section?

Hey dchow - for the teacher recs do I ask 'em to sit on a computer, fill in the pdf doc and print it out OR do i take a print out myself and ask 'em to write on it with a pen? They are planning to do the letter on the computer and print it out and attach it with the pdf form.

When I applied last year, you couldn’t fill the forms out online. I’m not sure, but it seems like this year you can. I just printed it out and they used a pen.

Thanks! No fillin’ forms online for my teachers … they would rather use a pen!

You could write a shorter essay about a different one there. I dunno.

And I don’t see an option in the Common App site to fill in the teacher forms online …

Really, even if your other activities are way worse/lame?

I attended Junior Statesmen and Presidential Classroom programs that were not for college credit. What section do I put these programs in on the Common App?

I am really confused about the teacher rec and secondary school report. If I submit the Common App electronically, do I have to have my teachers submit their recs electronically? Also, how do teachers submit the form online if they do not have an account?

You take a print-out of all those teacher related forms, fill-in your part and hand them over to your teachers with a big smile on your face and an attached note saying: “Free gift assured. Conditions Apply.” Then your teachers, GC fill their part and mail 'em to the colleges with the same note attached to the envelope.
I think your GC rec can mention your taking part in those programs!
