Lot of ignorant haters out there and just need to filtered them out. This reminded me years ago I had a UB dentist said to me BU GSDM takes anyone🙄. I chuckled and thought what a small town insecurity LOL. BU GSDM is world renowned in its academic and research. It’s state of the art digital dentistry facility not many can match. For my children the rules are where do they want to live and work. Both chose Boston even though they have been to many other large cities. Be proud of your achievement and ignore the noise. Go Terrier!
My daughter is seriously considering choosing BU starting in 2024. It seems like a wonderful school. I’m wondering if any of these myths would negatively affect her opportunities for internships/jobs in Boston (or the NE in general)?
Since this is about common myth about BU, I will add more:
BU gets overshadowed in the area because there are so many schools in a small area. If a group of students get together: Harvard will be seen as the smart one, MIT the serious studious one, Wellsley the noble one, NE as the doer where as BU student will likely be the social one. UM Boston is like a community college and they don’t care to hang out.
And that’s my contribution to a list of common myth.
Like it’s a safety? Yes, if you get in - no if you’re the 89% who didn’t - and if you got in RD, you’re a true stud.
Myth #2 - a budget Cornell - I suppose if you are full pay and got merit aid. But there are likely kids in at Cornell, and rejected at BU.
Myth #3 - it’s easy - likely every school has easy classes. The students aren’t too bright? Well they got into BU.
The myths - not sure why the student wrote that - maybe insecure - but I thought it was a silly email in that sense of - would I choose the school?
Internships will be up to the student, moreso than the school. Even at Cornell (a school in one of the myths), most kids are finding internships on company websites, indeed, and linkedin - that’s directly from their career center.
You can ask BU for a detailed career outcome report - but I think your concerns based on the myths are unwarranted.
