For CS departments, look at upper level technical CS courses like:

algorithms and complexity
theory of computation
operating systems
compilers
networking
databases
security and cryptography
software engineering or project courses
hardware courses
electives of interest like artificial intelligence, graphics, user interfaces, etc.
