Well to start off I applied to a few UC’s, a couple CSU’s and in the end I decided Pomona was the best school and seemed like a nice campus and a good place to go to so I chose it as a Major in Computer Science.

Today I received emails saying I have been accepted to UCR and UC Merced (Neither of which I applied for) and now I have to go back and at least consider these colleges versus Pomona.

So I’m looking for a few insights on at least some of the following factors:

Campus Life: I hear Pomona is mostly dead and UCR is a party (I’ll be on campus)
Overall School Perception: Pretty hard to justify a UC versus a CSU even if it is a low end UC.
My degree: Engineering at Cal Poly is very good but is it worth it going to a UC since it is in fact a UC school and regarded higher than a CSU?

Any insight on these three schools is much appreciated.

I’ve already toured Pomona and am Touring Riverside tomorrow.

Thanks!
