The above claim about racism in Boston is horribly naive and untrue. Have you even been to Roxbury? How about Dorchester?

Northeastern fortunately tends to have a very accepting campus. We have a strong African student organization (I think there are more than one), although I’m not sure if there is a non-African-citizen African-American association… Hope that makes sense. None of my friends have ever felt that race has been an issue on campus.

But to say there is no such thing as racism in Boston is completely ridiculous. There are plenty of people who are rude or judgemental towards other races, cultures, etc. In fact, Boston is MUCH more ignorant (and therefore unfairly judgemental) than everywhere else I’ve lived in the US. Many people I know are very kind people, but they still think things are weird or strange from other cultures/backgrounds just because they didn’t grow up around them. There are definitely people who think that Roxbury is bad or Dorchester is scary, and connect that with the fact they are primarily black neighborhoods. Don’t get me wrong- Northeastern, mainly really great. But I refuse to let the above comments stand unquestioned. It’s just ridiculous.

And my engineering friends have PLENTY of social life. The idea that they can’t have parties because they are in lab? Labs are during the day, and engineering/science students procrastinate just as much as everyone else. It won’t affect that you’re doing on Friday or Saturday night in the slightest. I have no idea where you got that idea from.

I feel like the person above doesn’t even go to Northeastern, especially since they randomly capitalized the e when no one does. Ignore the above posts.
