Concert Bombing in Manchester UK

Do you mean that they rebel against conservative parents who are not conservative enough (since they attach themselves to groups that use extreme religious conservatism as their motivating ideology)?

A very emotional interview with a man who was leaving the blood donation center:

“This city is a community,I don’t care who you believe in, where you’re from, this city is for everybody and we all need to rally around today to show support because they want to divide us, don’t they? They want us to turn on our neighbors and it will never happen. Not here.”

@mommaj:
I am not sure it is a rebellion against conservative parents, why would someone commit terrorist acts in the name of radical Islam which is way, way more conservative than a conservative parent would be? Not exactly like the upper middle income and well off kids in the 1960’s who turned to radicalism, this sounds more like disenchanted young Muslims who are angry at society lashing out and finding common cause with Islamic radical islam.

I wonder if the mother is involved as well, news reports said she was a ‘teacher of the Q’ran’, and you have to wonder what view of it she taught, given both her kids ended up radicalized (and I will add I am not entirely taking at face value the brother and father being arrested, they were arrested by a militia and I don’t know how much I trust they didn’t just arrest the brother and father to make it look like they were doing something to address the violence issue, would trust more if foreign intelligence services indicated they believed the brother and father were involved.

The HR director at my friend’s company was at the concert with her 10 & 12 yr old daughters. They weren’t hurt but are all traumatized. The director hasn’t been at work since - too shaken up.

I’ve barely been able to watch any of the news coverage - too upsetting.
