Concrete Sinks and Counters; Economical?

I worked in a chemistry lab for a good deal of my life, and Elkay sinks were the lab gold standard. Nothing ate through them… not even the stuff my lab mates pored down the drain. That said, I prefer my kitchen to not look like a lab or a morgue, so no SS sinks for me. And no Wolf etc. commercial ranges. Yuck. Grill - that is a totally different beast! The meaner and tougher the better!

I would suggest picking the countertop you are going to enjoy the most. Concrete isn’t cheap because of the labor involved. Among the durable options, I don’t think the cost difference is enough to justify picking based on economy. Also, sometimes people try to pick based on what future buyers will like. Kitchen trends change all the time, so pick the counter that is going to make you happy.

Love, love, love my big new sink, the Kohler Stages 45. It has a 33" wide single compartment sink and an integrated wet work area. It comes with a walnut cutting board that sits on top along with prep bowls and other accouterments I haven’t bothered to take out of the boxes. It also has a bottom rack that I’ve never had and really like.

@1moremom looked up your sink and I can see why you like it. That is nice!

Wow, I’m in love with that Kohler workstation sink. I might have to put one of those into my next remodel project.

Dumb question, but what do you do with that “wet work” shelf in the ^^Kohler workstation sink?

If I had one (wet work shelf) that’s where I’d set the colander after I’ve rinsed out the vegetables.

Wow!! What a sink. If we redo the countertops, it would fit into my existing cabinet. I will have to bookmark it.
