Conflicts with Multiple-recruitability?

This is actually a huge issue to consider – – where and when are competitions held? Is the conference fairly close in area, so it is a short bus ride and there are only a few overnights? Or is it like the Big Ten, where California schools have to fly out and play Rutgers?

We had a NESCAC coach say registration priority was based on random number assignment. And just “randomly” athletes seemed to get the earliest numbers each year. So … no official policy there.

The first year my daughter played her spring sport, she was exhausted. The coach was new so had to set up non-conference games and the team traveled OOS by bus three weekends in a row. The second year coach cut that down and they actually flew to one out of town weekend. Third and fourth years? One weekend away, and it was early in the season. After that away weekend, they played everything at home or in close by conference teams (no more than 3 hours). They played 16 games per season, and 11 of those were at home. When you play in Florida, everyone wants to travel to play you on their spring break.

Definitely check the schedule for last few years for the teams you are considering. Some sports have big tournaments on weekends (play 3 games) or meets that involve several schools for one really long day. The other thing was that D’s sport, lax, was a 25 minute half in hs but a 30 minute half in college. You wouldn’t think that 5 extra minutes would matter but when you are running full out all game, it makes a huge difference and that contributed to her being exhausted too.
