If you and your mother have any contact with your father, you will be expected to be able to get his financial information for the CSS Profile. “not at all in good terms” in and of itself is probably not sufficient for a waiver. Those are most often granted in true no-contact situations - not one cent in child support or marital support since the divorce, you truly have no idea where he is, and/or a court ordered protective order because of threat to physical or mental heath. Some colleges and universities simply do not have NCP waivers at all because of the expectation that both parents will contribute to the cost of educating their child. Since you don’t want to deal with your father, you need to identify places where his information is not needed.
